4 Indications That It Might Be Time to Find a New Job

Finding a new jobIs it breakup time yet? Well, you may need to switch to a new job several times in a lifetime. It happens to every average employee. Even in a sluggish economy, many people make the courageous decision to move on. They decide to find a new job because they know it’s time to quit. They can’t simply continue staying in a job that makes their life miserable. You can’t either!

But what’s really important is to know whether it’s the right time to move on to a new job. If you decide to change your job without understanding the glaring signs of indications, you can get yourself in serious trouble.

Given below are four indications to watch out for at your job–

#1. You are Getting Overlooked

Money is not everything that you yearn for. Any job that you choose to do should satisfy you while giving you continuous opportunities of career growth. But this is not how things happen with everyone. Many employees, who are talented enough to do their jobs, get overlooked in the workplace.

It becomes a major cause of worry when you aren’t given any chances to prove  your worth or talent. You know that you have the required skills. But you can’t showcase them because you are not given visible projects.

If that’s the case, it should be time to move on.

#2. You have No Learning Opportunities

Learning should always continue. Unless you continuously work on expanding your knowledge base, you can’t grow in your career. No matter which job you are in, it’s should be your prime objective to learn new skills and tactics every new day. But what if there are no more learning opportunities?

Many times, employees face a stage where their job roles or responsibilities are modified in a way that the opportunities of learning that existed earlier are completely lost.

If you think your current job offers you no learning opportunities at all, it’s definitely an indication to start the search for a new job.

#3. You are Experiencing Mistreatment

Employees can be mistreated in the workplace in a number of ways. You may face a situation where you are sexually harassed. Excessive workplace bullying can also take its toll on you. No matter what kind of mistreatment you suffer from, you should first get in touch with the guys in the HR department. If the situation doesn’t seem to improve even after bringing the matter to the HR department’s notice, it’s absolutely time to find a new job.

#4. You are Making Mistakes Repeatedly

Mistakes are meant for you to learn from. If you keep on making mistakes in your job without getting better, you are in trouble. The biggest reason behind this would be a so-called ‘skills mismatch’. If something like this happens, you should assess the situation quickly. Taking a career assessment test should also help. If your current job is not completely in tune with the skills your carry, you should move on and start looking for a new job that fits your skills best.
