1) Your skills aren’t being utilized
In every job, you will go through slow periods where there aren’t any particularly interesting or challenging projects coming your way. But if you find that after a long period of time you aren’t being given work that matches your capabilities and skill set, it’s a good reason to consider quitting your job.
2) You dread every workday
You don’t have to be skipping and whistling every morning on your way to work, but if you find that the idea of going to work is something that brings tears to your eyes on a regular basis, it’s a good reason to quit your job and move on.
3) You don’t find meaning in your work
If no part of your job has brought you excitement in the past year, it may be an indicator it’s time to find a new job. And if you don’t believe in your employer’s mission, and it doesn’t match up with any of your own personal values, it’s a good reason to quit your job and find something more rewarding.
4) You never laugh
While work should be taken seriously and employees should be as focused as possible, if you find you are going through every work day without any laughter or lighthearted moments, it may be a sign it’s time to move on.
5) You are no longer growing
While being content and comfortable at a job is often better than having no job at all, when you go a long period of time being too comfortable in something, you hurt your own personal and professional growth. If you find you are no longer learning anything new, and have been doing the same thing at work every day for months or years, it’s a good reason to quit your job and find the next step up the ladder in your career.
6) You experience non-stop financial stress
We all worry about money from time to time, but if you find that all you think about is how you are going to pay your bills and you are unable to enjoy even the smallest treat from time to time without worrying about how much it will strain your budget, it’s probably a good time to start looking for a new job.
7) Your boss is unbearable
If you have been butting heads with your boss for a long period of time and find you cannot resolve the situation and find a way to co-exist in harmony, it’s a good reason to quit your job. You can’t perform any job to your fullest potential when you don’t get along with the person you are reporting to.
