Title: Product Engineer (Vehicle Engineering) Location: Winamac / Indianapolis, IN Type: FTE Job Overview We are seeking a Product Engineer / Vehicle Engineer to lead the engineering and design of new wheelchair-accessible vehicle conversions from concept through launch. This role is responsible for full vehicle system integration, prototype development, and maintaining project timing, cost, and quality objectives. Key Responsibilities Engineer, design, and develop new vehicle conversions using 3D CAD (Inventor) Design and integrate mechanisms, suspensions, structures, closures (doors & liftgates) Lead projects through APQP / Stage Gate processes Plan design, procurement, assembly, and validation activities aligned with project timelines Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Portfolio teams Ensure designs meet cost, quality, and performance targets Develop and build prototype vehicles Conduct design reviews and peer reviews to ensure best design practices Drive standardization, common designs, and low-cost alternatives Support continuous improvement of designs, processes, and timing Required Skills & Technical Expertise: Strong mechanism design experience with tolerance considerations Solid understanding of vehicle engineering and system integration Experience with structural design, sheet metal fabrication, welding Knowledge of fuel, exhaust, cooling, braking systems Experience with closures and suspension systems Proficiency with FEA, DFA/M, DOE, DVP&R, D/PFMEA, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups Familiarity with LEAN principles and problem-solving tools (8D or similar) Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills bility to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Tools & Software utodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault MS Office, Outlook Epicor (ERP) - preferred Must-Have Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Master's Degree completed in the United States (mandatory) (Bachelor's may be from another country) Proven experience taking products from concept through launch bility to lead projects and work cross-functionally Strong 3D product design experience Stable work history (2-3 years per employer) Currently employed Must be located in or able to commute to Indianapolis, IN Nice to Haves: DFME Root Cause Analysis Tools utomotive or Transportation / Specialty Vehicle
