Overview Position Summary: The Traveling Site Safety Manager is responsible for supporting project site crews and Safety Specialists by visiting project sites, assessing unsafe work conditions, and working with project managers, site supervision, and safety personnel to properly control and minimize risks and hazards to protect employees, subcontractors, and the customer. Location & Travel Details You will travel across the US, helping our team build renewable projects. This is a traveling position (up to 100%) and you may be placed on a project site in any US state. You will spend 8"‘12 months on average per project. We provide a daily per diem, a company vehicle, and a fuel card to support living expenses. As a MasTec Company, we are poised for continued growth. Responsibilities Preview projects and project sites before work begins to determine safety and environmental related risks. Develop site"‘specific safety plan, Emergency Action Plan, and training for project sites. Visit active project sites to assess ongoing work conditions and ensure compliance with project site"‘specific safety plans and local, state, and federal regulations. Document unsafe work conditions, safety hazards, and health hazards. Work with project management, site supervision, and craft workers to develop and implement solutions to safety"‘related findings on project sites. Determine corrective or preventative measures where necessary and follow up to ensure they are implemented. Manage contractors' safety programs and training; recommend changes as necessary for compliance. Audit orientation and annual safety training records for compliance. Conduct investigations of accidents and injuries through employee interviews, equipment inspections, and site inspections. Recommend appropriate disciplinary action when safe work practices and policies are violated by employees and subcontractors. Provide updates to the Project Manager and Director of Safety on a regular basis. Ensure all required records and reports are up to date, accurate, and submitted to comply with all internal processes, local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure project sites have the appropriate safety equipment. Manage Safety Specialists at project sites when assigned. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety. Qualifications 5-7 years construction safety managerial experience or equivalent combination of training and related experience. Experience and/or training in Excavation, Trenching, and Soil Mechanics preferred. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA rules, regulations, and reporting processes and procedures for construction safety. Ability to professionally represent the company when dealing with external organizations, regulatory bodies, and all organizational levels internally. Ability to communicate and train effectively. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to exercise good business judgment and common sense when making recommendations and decisions. Ability to multi"‘task and thrive in an environment where numerous tasks and projects occur simultaneously. Ability to meet deadlines in short time frames. Strong interpersonal skills: ability to interact and collaborate with all levels of the company at project sites and offices, and effectively deal with vendors, subcontractors, customers, and regulatory agencies. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Supervisory Responsibilities Plan, organize, and manage the work of Safety Specialists to ensure the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational expectations and requirements. Provide guidance to team members and monitor their performance, discipline, and attendance regularly. Be responsible for professional development of Safety Specialists. Communicate and act with a team"‘oriented mentality. Ensure positive morale and engagement of employees. Communicate and adhere to Company vision and values. Assist in employee recruitment, performance management, promotions, retention, and termination activities. Work Environment Work frequently in outside weather conditions; exposure to hot and cold temperatures and/or wet/humid conditions. Work near moving mechanical parts. Work in precarious places. Licenses and Certifications Must have and maintain a valid state"‘issued Driver's License with a driving record that meets Saiia's risk"‘management guidelines. Preferred: CSP, GSP, CHST, or STSC. OSHA 500 Preferred. BA in Safety Preferred. Travel This position requires travel to job sites up to 80% of the time and will be assigned to one job site for daily reporting. The job site may be located anywhere in the USA. Educational Requirements Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree in Safety or related discipline preferred.
