The successful candidate will be a hands-on, student-centered leader with a deep commitment to educational equity, college access, and the transformative power of public education. Key responsibilities for the Head of School include leading and executing a comprehensive student enrollment and retention strategy, serving as the public face of the school, and building trust with families and the community. The role also involves academic and instructional leadership, establishing a strong school culture, and managing the school's operations and budget. The ideal candidate will be an experienced school-based leader, an entrepreneurial thinker, and a strong instructional leader with a proven track record of improving academic outcomes. The Head of School will be expected to strengthen enrollment and retention, build a clear organizational structure, and improve academic rigor and outcomes. They must be an effective people manager, a culture builder, and a clear, consistent communicator. The role requires an experienced change manager who is organized, detail-oriented, and operationally strong. While not mandatory, familiarity with the Delaware and/or Wilmington education landscape is preferred. The Head of School will work closely with the Board and Network to support fundraising and advancement efforts and must be prepared to lead through complexity, resistance, and ambiguity with resilience, courage, and emotional steadiness.
