Position Type: Support Staff/Alternative to Suspension (ATS) FacilitatorDate Posted: 3/2/2026Location: School Board OfficeDate Available: 03/02/2026Closing Date: Open Until FilledATS FacilitatorGeneral Definition of WorkPerforms intermediate paraprofessional work monitoring the behavior of students assigned to ATS (alternative to suspension), administers ATS program as determined by school administration, enforces established rules and regulations, and reinforces instructional activities as prescribed by the referring teacher. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential FunctionsExplains and enforces ATS rules and procedures to students assigned to the program.Check attendance daily and report to the attendance clerk.Observes and monitors students' academic and behavioral progress for students assigned to ATSCheck student work during suspension periods; reviews student progress; returns students' completed work to teacher(s).Monitor and report inappropriate behavior by students to administration.Accompanies students to and from transition times as directed by school administration.Provides discipline as appropriate. Assists classroom teachers in providing for the social, emotional, and physical needs of students. Takes appropriate action in instances of special medical needs and other emergencies including, when necessary, escorting students from building.Performs clerical duties, including preparing and typing communications and classroom materials. Maintains a clean and orderly environment.Assists throughout the school building when ATS has not been assigned to students.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to communicate clearly and properly in speech and in writing.Basic computing, typing and spelling skills required.Preferred experience in regular education or special education.Concern for general welfare of children.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or successful completion of the GED, preferably supplemented by 48 hours or more of college coursework in education.Physical RequirementsSubject to a wide variety of behavioral situations associated with young adolescents such as academic, social, behavioral, and attendance concerns. Ability to perform general responsibilities as listed without direct supervision. Good communication with adults and students is required. Significant standing, some walking, carrying, bending.
