Job Details Lead Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown Unit - Cardiothoracic Surgery, Good Samaritan University Hospital (GSUH) Position Summary: The Lead Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown Unit - Cardiothoracic (CT) Surgery, is a pivotal leadership role responsible for advancing the quality and coordination of cardiac surgery and cardiovascular care across the Department of CT Surgery/Cardiovascular services at GSUH. This role integrates clinical expertise, program development, and data analytics to improve patient outcomes, reduce readmissions, and optimize performance metrics across the CT surgery/cardiovascular services at GSUH. The APP lead serves as a clinical leader, educator, and data-driven strategist, bridging frontline care with system-level quality and performance improvement. Key Responsibilities: * Clinical Leadership - CT surgery and cardiovascular care * Ensure safe, efficient, and evidence-based cardiovascular care * Serve as the clinical lead for cardiothoracic unit, ensuring delivery of safe, efficient evidence-based high-quality cardiovascular care. * Participate in and coordinate multidisciplinary rounds, facilitating communication and care planning. * Mentor and provide clinical guidance to nurses, APPs, and other staff to promote professional growth and best practices. * Recruit talented APP's support onboarding, proctoring, and competency validation of new providers and maintain training, competency documentation and annual performance evaluations. * Retain talent with a focus on employee engagement and optimize department and inter-departmental collaboration * Program development - Design, implement, and oversee a cardiovascular care program focused on reducing readmissions, decreasing surgical complications, optimizing outcomes, improving long-term outcomes and improving patient experience. * Collaborate with physicians, surgeons and leadership to develop, update, and implement clinical protocols and pathways for CT surgery/cardiovascular patients. * Develop and execute care transition protocols, outpatient management workflows, and patient education initiatives. * Integrate evidence-based strategies for "best practice" in cardiovascular care * Track, analyze, and report program outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational goals, Leap Frog Hospital/Patient Safety ratings, CMS Five Star ratings, Joint Commission and national benchmarks. * Collect, manage, and cardiovascular and CT surgical performance data to support continuous quality improvement, in collaboration with the GSUH Quality Department * Provide actionable insights through data visualization and trend analysis to support operational decisions. * Assist with budget planning as it relates to staffing and capital purchases of medical equipment, in collaboration with biomedical engineering, medical vendors and hospital leadership * Collaborate with Quality and Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) departments to improve data integrity, reporting accuracy, and performance transparency. Qualifications Education & Certification: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Studies (PA-C) required Board certification Current licensure as an NP or PA in the State of New York. BLS and ACLS certification required. Experience: Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in advanced cardiothoracic and cardiovascular care Strong understanding of cardiovascular and CT surgical care Proficiency in data analytics (e.g., Excel and EPIC reporting) Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred Proven track record of program development and interdisciplinary collaboration. Skills & Competencies: Strong clinical judgment Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills. Ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into quality initiatives. Proficiency with electronic medical records and reporting systems. Strategic thinker capable of leading cross-departmental initiatives. Salary Range USD $73.01 - USD $97.35 /Hr.
