Job DescriptionGENERAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESHarsco Rail is looking for an enthusiastic and analytical Projects & Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in project development, documentation, and process improvement within a dynamic manufacturing environment. You'll work on key projects and develop valuable skills in lean methodologies and corporate communication.QualificationsCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.Additional InformationESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWill include the following, but other duties may be assigned:Assist in the development and documentation of manufacturing and engineering projects, from initial concept to completion.Gain a deep understanding of Harsco Rail's major projects, including their scope, objectives, and impact.Learn and apply the Toyota A3 Process for project documentation, including problem-solving, planning, and reporting.Utilize the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology to identify areas for process improvement and contribute to solutions.Collaborate with various engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams.Develop strong interpersonal skills and professional communication within a corporate setting.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSEngineering Principles: Foundational understanding of engineering concepts, preferably in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering.Problem-Solving: An analytical mindset with the ability to break down complex issues and contribute to solutions.Process Improvement: Interest in or exposure to methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement. Familiarity with DMAIC is a plus.Documentation Skills: Ability to organize information clearly and concisely. Experience with technical writing or report generation is beneficial.Project Understanding: Eagerness to learn about project lifecycles and project management methodologies.Software Proficiency: Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
