Job Description:
Vehicle Damage Appraiser Appraises vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance and retail claim settlement. Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Examines damaged vehicles to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical or interior damage. Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item. Determines feasibility of repair vs. replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders and doors. Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations. Estimates cost of repainting, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles. Reviews repair cost estimates with body shop manager or foreman. Schedules customer appointments. Tracks daily progress of jobs in process. Assists production manager in processing supplement claims. Prepares detailed supplements for additional parts and labor. Notifies insurance company of any supplement needed. Prepares repair order documents for final invoicing checking parts, labor and materials charges. Calculates technician hours and flags timesheets. Completes daily cycle time work sheets. Utilizes DMS system for customer updates and job tracking. Reviews daily progress of repairs and works with production manager and customer service representative updating customers when needed. Notifies customers of any old damage found on vehicle that may not be accident related. Documents repair order for mileage on vehicle in and out of shop. Maintains a professional attitude with co-workers, customers, vendors. Follows the dress code the company has put in place. Maintains a clean and neat work area. Keeps area free of debris. Follows federal, state and local law as well as company policy about safeguarding all information. Reports on time to work and follows schedule that is given. Calls supervisor if he/she cannot be at work on time. Keeps current with annual HR training along with any other training that might be required for this position. Follows all company policies and procedures. Notifies supervisor of any illegal activity.
