Value Stream Manager

Our client is your go-to partner for all precision machining and fabrication needs.The Role You are accountable for On-Time Delivery (OTD), First-Time Quality (FTQ), throughput, and labor productivity across your entire stream, from raw material to shipment. This role exists to build a predictable, high-performing production system, not manage chaos.What You OwnEnd-to-End Value Stream AccountabilityFull ownership of your value stream performance: OTD (target: =95%), FTQ (target: =95%), Lead time, and WIP flow and inventory turnsAccountable from raw material release ? machining/fabrication ? inspection ? shipmentDrive daily execution to meet customer commit dates, no surprisesDaily Management & Tier System LeadershipLead Tier 1-3 execution within your value streamEnsure: Visual management is accurate and real-time, Past due orders have clear recovery plans with dates, and Problems are escalated and resolved within 24 hoursOwn SQDC+P boards and drive discipline in daily accountabilityOperational Excellence (Lean Execution)Implement and sustain: Standard Work (operator + supervisor), 5S with sustainment discipline, and Flow and pull systems where applicableLead A3 problem solving on all major misses (OTD, FTQ, productivity)Eliminate waste in: Setup time, Machine utilization, and Material movementDrive improvements in cycle time, queue time, and changeoverCapacity, Throughput & Labor EfficiencyOwn man-to-machine ratios and labor deploymentEnsure machines are: Scheduled ahead for both shifts and Running to standard cycle timesPartner with Planning to align: Capacity vs. demand and Workforce vs. loadDrive throughput to meet daily shipment targetsQuality Ownership (FTQ Culture)Own quality performance, not delegate itEnsure: Jobs run right the first time and Rework and scrap are aggressively reducedPartner with Quality on: Root cause and corrective actions and Process standardizationBuild a zero-defect mindset at the sourceMaterial Flow & ExecutionEnsure clean flow of material: No bottlenecks between processes and No hidden WIPPartner with Materials/Planning to ensure: Raw material availability and Outside processing is alignedDrive visual control of WIP across the floorTeam Leadership & CultureLead supervisors, leads, and operators with clarity and accountabilitySet the expectation: Problems are surfaced, not hidden and Standards are followed, every shift, every dayDevelop your team: Coaching on Lean, problem-solving, and execution disciplineMaintain a safe, organized, high-performance environmentCommercial & Engineering AlignmentPartner with Sales & Engineering to: Execute high-priority jobs and Ensure manufacturability and flowSupport quoting feedback: Cycle times, Capacity constraints, and Process improvementsWhat Success Looks Like (First 6-12 Months)OTD stabilized and trending toward =95%FTQ improved with visible reduction in rework/scrapTier system running with discipline (no firefighting culture)Clear visibility of: WIP, Capacity, ThroughputStandard work implemented and followed across shiftsExperience5+ years leading operations in Precision machining and fabricationProven track record improving OTD, FTQ, and ThroughputLeadership StyleGemba-first leader, lives on the shop floorDrives accountability, not activityComfortable holding standards and pushing performanceTechnical StrengthStrong knowledge of: CNC machining (mills, lathes, multi-axis) and Fabrication / laser cutting (preferred)Experience with ERP systems (JobBOSS, Epicor, SAP, or similar)Understands routing, cycle time, and capacity planningEducationBachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field preferredLean / Six Sigma certification strongly preferred
