What We Need: The Instructional Specialist will provide job-embedded support within their assigned building(s), collaborating with administrators, classroom teachers, and student support personnel to increase student achievement using data-informed practices. This role requires a service-driven individual committed to supporting teachers and implementing a continuous cycle of data-driven professional learning at the school level. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Data Collection and Reporting * Collect and analyze data on student behavior and intervention effectiveness. * Develop tools and train staff on data collection methods to ensure accuracy and consistency. * Prepare reports and documentation to track student progress and inform stakeholders. * Present data and analysis to teams to guide decision-making and improve intervention strategies. 2. Crisis Intervention * Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations to ensure the safety of students and staff. * Develop and implement proactive strategies to prevent crises. * Guide staff in responding effectively to crisis situations based on data-informed practices. 3. Assessment and Evaluation * Identify necessary data points, develop collection plans, and train staff on implementation. * Participate in developing functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to determine the root causes of behavioral challenges. * Analyze data to inform intervention strategies and track student progress. 4. Intervention Planning * Support the creation and execution of individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to student needs. * Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate behavioral interventions within the classroom and school environment. * Ensure trauma-informed practices are in place and incorporated into intervention planning. 5. Training and Support * Provide training and professional development for teachers and staff on behavior management strategies and best practices. * Offer ongoing coaching and support to staff in implementing behavior interventions effectively. * Oversite for Registered Behavior Technicians. 6. Collaboration * Work closely with parents, guardians, and community stakeholders to create a supportive environment for students. * Partner with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support for students with diverse needs. 7. Other Duties * Perform additional duties as assigned to support school-wide initiatives and student success and duties typical to a BCBA. Qualifications * Master's degree in Special Education or related human services field; certified as a BCBA * Successful completion of internship and/or formal training in the analysis of behavior and instructional strategies training related to working with clients who have pervasive developmental disorders and related disorders, their parents, and other agencies working with client * Experience in behavior intervention, crisis management, or special education settings. * Strong analytical skills with experience in data collection and analysis. * Knowledge of functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs). * Experience in training and coaching educators on behavior management strategies. * Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with teachers, administrators, and families. * Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and positive behavioral interventions. Work Environment * Pre-K through age 22 students in a unit school district setting. * School-based setting with collaboration across multiple educational environments. * Reports to the Director of Diverse Learners Safety Expectations: The employee is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for themselves and others, taking necessary precautions to prevent occupational accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
