Job Description:
The Conveyance Supervisor is responsible for leading the material handling team and overseeing the efficient movement of parts and materials throughout the facility. This role ensures that the production line remains uninterrupted by managing "Point of Use" (POU) delivery, tugger routes, and warehouse organization. You will be responsible for driving safety, productivity, and Lean material flow initiatives. Job Requirements: • Supervise and coach a team of material handlers, tugger drivers, and forklift operators. Manage shift scheduling, performance evaluations, and ongoing safety training.• Management reporting of conveyance costs and issues, along with issues that impact.• FIA's production operations, shipping schedules, and parts delivery.• Oversee the execution of the "Plan for Every Part" (PFEP). Ensure tugger routes and delivery frequencies are synchronized with the Takt time of the production line.• Ensure the Logistics' function operates at maximum effectiveness in terms of labor, productivity, quality and cost control.• Develop a manufacturing and Logistics strategy in line with the longer-term business needs. • Develop Logistics processes, improve yields, reduce waste, improve quality; on-time delivery.• Monitor line-side inventory levels to prevent part shortages. Coordinate with the Warehouse team to ensure accurate inventory and sequencing of components.• Implement and drive a continuous improvement culture (Kaizen) across all reporting functions.• Enforce strict adherence to mobile equipment safety protocols. Conduct daily "Safety Audits" on equipment and ensure operators are properly certified and wearing required PPE.• Identify bottlenecks in the conveyance path and implement Lean solutions (e.g., Kanban systems, 5S, and milk-run optimizations) to reduce waste and improve delivery lead times.• Partner closely with Production Supervisors and Quality Engineers to resolve material discrepancies or quality "hold" issues immediately to avoid line downtime.• Oversee the daily maintenance logs for the conveyance fleet (forklifts, AGVs, tuggers) and coordinate with Maintenance for any necessary repairs.• Helps establish and execute efficient and effective production schedules in Stamping and Welding operations with Production Management Teams through the Logistics and Shipping Teams.RequirementsKnowledge of modern Logistics ordering, delivery and control processes and methodsAbility to remain calm and decisive under the pressure of "Line Down" situationsExcellent communication and motivational skillsDemonstrable process and continuous improvement achievementGood analytical skillsAbility to make data driven decisions• Excellent planning and organizational skills• Capability to ensure that all new products are introduced with minimum disruption, on time and to budget.• Strong influencing skills at all levels - internal and externalQuality function - to ensure product meets defined quality standardsCapable of analyzing complex flow patterns to eliminate redundant movements and reduce labor costs.Ensures Customer's satisfaction through on-time delivery and right product 100%.• Knowledge of effective Logistics system design and implementation.• Knowledge of inventory control.• Understanding manufacturing processes and how PC and Logistics functions are integrated into achieving safety; quality; productivity and profit goals through the execution of the materials, procurement, transportation, storage and shipping of parts/materials.• Be able to effectively drive cost reduction/KAIZEN activities within areas of responsibility.• Must be able to effectively work as a member of a team to achieve departmental and company goals.Qualifications Education Desired• 3+ years of experience in Logistics, Material Handling, or Warehouse Management, preferably within an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment; or relevant work experience• Proven experience supervising teams in a fast-paced, multi-shift operation.• Experience using Management Systems and/or ERP software.• High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, or Business is a plus.• Background in personnel leadership• Background in leadership over large projectsSupervisory Responsibilities• YesTravel• May travel occasionally by automotive and or airplaneEssential Physical Tasks • Ability to stand and walk for 8-10 hours a day on a concrete production floor.• Physical Sight - Able to read and analyze data in hard copy and on a computer screen• Verbal & Written Communications - Able to efficiently present complex matters to the audience with little technical knowledge and to executive management• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs• Comfortable working in an industrial environment with varying noise levels and temperatures.Individual must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when on the shop floor, which includes Head Protection, hearing protection; safety eye protection, gloves, sleeves and steel-toed safety shoes, High Visibility Vest.Futaba Indiana of America is an equal-opportunity employer.
