Shift Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm Location: Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NY Salary Range: $70,000 to $76,000 Job Summary: The Buyer assists in all functions related to procurement and has the responsibility of handling the day-to-day activities of purchasing and inventory management. They will work with LSI departments to provide high quality components, assemblies, services, and finished goods while ensuring that the company's needs are met. They are the main point of communication between LSI and suppliers and are responsible for all facets of supplier relations. Essential Functions: Responsible for the on-time procurement and logistics of materials and services used in the manufacturing of products, assuring the lowest possible cost while maintaining quality standards and optimum inventory levels. Ensure quotes are accurate and up to date when placing purchase orders. Plan and process material purchase orders according to internal and external requirements. Assist with the maintenance of ERP master data fields and settings (lead time, safety stock, reorder point, approved suppliers, etc.) to ensure purchase orders are placed in timely manner to meet all inventory and production goals. Maintain purchased inventory levels and cycle counts to meet company inventory objectives. Process purchasing requisitions, entering correct information into system, conveying order information to approved suppliers, and expediting orders as needed. Use ERP system to plan order releases and work with suppliers to resolve part shortages. Communicate with suppliers for material return for credit Collaborate with the Quality department to monitor supplier performance and ensure that acute and chronic supplier performance issues are addressed to avoid disruption to manufacturing or supply. Work with Discovery and Engineering to assist with procurement coordination of projects including sourcing materials and services. Function as a liaison between suppliers and internal LSI departments to clarify requirements, facilitate communication and drive accountability. Price and delivery review and negotiation. Additional Responsibilities: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers. Continually maintain up to date quotations, pricing, and delivery terms for all purchased items. Understand and monitor markets to prevent potential material inventory outages. Actively support R&D (Discovery) and Regulatory to meet new product development requirements. All other duties as assigned. Education & Experience: Associates Degree preferred. 1-3 years of manufacturing, purchasing, or planning experience. Proficient with word processing, spread sheet and general computer applications. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Have a penchant for data accuracy. Possess keen negotiating and problem solving skills. Self-starter who strives to contribute and add value both within and outside their role. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interface positively with all departments at all levels of management, customers, and suppliers. Able to work effectively in a diverse work environment and results oriented culture with a high degree of urgency. A passion for understanding world events and geopolitics as they apply to the supply chain. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Frequent standing, some travel, some heavy lifting. Sitting, standing and/or walking for up to eight hours per day. Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Regularly required to talk and/or hear, see, handle, reach, and perform repetitive motion. Occasionally required to see color.
