Learn more at Scope of the Role The Collections Manager oversees the collections function within the Order-to-Cash (O2C) process for CooperCompanies' North America entities in a Global Business Services (GBS) environment. This role ensures timely collection of outstanding receivables, dispute resolution, and compliance with company policies, while driving strategies to minimize DSO and bad debt exposure. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounts Receivable, the Collections Manager leads a team of specialists and partners cross-functionally to optimize cash flow and enhance customer experience. Job Summary The Collections Manager is responsible for managing daily collections activities, monitoring aging reports, and implementing strategies to improve collection performance. This position enforces internal controls, supports audits, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with GBS principles. Success requires strong leadership, negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Customer Service to resolve disputes and improve processes. ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership: Supervise, coach, and develop Collections team members. Set performance goals, monitor progress, and foster a collaborative and high-performing environment. Collections Management: Oversee collection efforts for all customer accounts; ensure timely follow-up on past-due invoices. Dispute Resolution: Partner with Sales and Customer Service to resolve billing disputes and prevent payment delays. Credit Risk Monitoring: Review customer credit limits and escalate high-risk accounts. KPIs: Monitor aging reports, DSO, and collection effectiveness; provide insights to Senior Manager. Internal Controls & Compliance: Ensure adherence to SOX controls and company policies. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, enhance automation, and improve efficiency within Collections processes, leveraging GBS best practices. Reporting & Analysis: Prepare collections-related reports, assist with month-end close activities, and provide insights to support decision-making. Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager. Key Competencies Strong negotiation and communication skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to analyze aging reports and identify risk trends. Knowledge of credit risk management and compliance requirements. Analytical mindset with proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems. Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced Global Business Services environment. Problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement. QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field (required). Minimum 5-7 years of collections experience. Minimum 3 years of experience managing or supervising collections staff. Experience with ERP systems (Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics preferred). Strong understanding of O2C processes and best practices. For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $78,568.00 and $112,266.00 per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
