The selected candidate will serve as a research fellow to develop historical and archival research on missing American soldiers and sailors from military battles dating back to the 1940s, including World War Il, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, the Gulf War, and other recent conflicts.Essential Job Duties Utilizes the archives and research centers at Tuskegee University and outside of campus to conduct research and analysis to support DPARs ongoing mission to account for missing military personnel.Support the Agency's mission through conducting research and analysis that may include, but is not limited to, historical research and writing, data organization, and management, digital humanities project, GIS, foreign language translation, and public history work.Provide written research reports and updates including oral presentations.Adhere to all federal, DPAA, university, and department policies, procedures, and regulations.Participate in the History and Political Science Department's annual Black History Month International Research Symposium. In addition to the symposium, the fellow may offer public talks to the University and community that captures the significance of the fellow's research to the large civilian.Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) Ph.D. in History, Military Studies, or International Relations, with a focus on the U.S. military history, foreign policy, or military studies or PhD candidate.Ph.D. candidates who apply must defend their dissertations and complete their program by May 2026.
