Job Description:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) is concerned with a child's ability to participate in daily life activities or "occupations." For children, these occupations include play, activities of daily living, learning, social participation, and sleep.All potential applicants are encouraged to scroll through and read the complete job description before applying.The OT will work with children with a range of social-emotional, physical, cognitive, communication and adaptive behavior challenges to prepare for and perform important learning and developmental activities.The OT's intervention is designed to promote development, establish needed skills, and modify environments to prevent further disability all in support of participation in daily activities.The Occupational Therapist will evaluate and treat clients with a wide variety of conditions including autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing difficulties, challenging behaviors, developmental disabilities, congenital abnormalities, neurological disorders, neuromuscular disease, and other diagnoses.Occupational therapy will address sensory processing, self regulatory abilities, motor development, adaptive behavior, feeding skills, self help skills, play skills, learning and social interactions.The Advanced Level Occupational Therapist provides an evaluation, during which the client/family and occupational therapist determine the client's goals.The OT develops an individual treatment plan to improve the client's ability to perform daily activities and achieve their goals.Outcomes are determined by ongoing re-evaluations that ensure the goals are being met and/or if changes need to be made to the treatment plan.The OT completes associated documentation including evaluations, reevaluations, daily notes, and discharges.The OT communicates with clients, parents, team members and others to best meet the client's needs.The OT is responsible for supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) as needed. xijylhu The OT is also responsible for support work which contributes to the successful delivery of therapeutic intervention and the efficient operation of TherapyWorks.
