Job Description:
Position Summary: The Social Services Supervisor is responsible for serving clients while coordinating the daily functions of the Social Services operation and providing team leadership. This includes oversight of Social Services staff members and volunteers as well as community collaborations and managing program funds and reporting requirements. Essential Responsibilities: Provides leadership to staff and volunteers including training, scheduling, and supervision Serves as liaison; represents The Salvation Army at community meetings; maintains working relationships with community agencies to maintain awareness of available services; promotes Pathway of Hope; coordinates services and communicates about cases; assures that valid releases of information are on file Organizes seasonal in-kind drives and distributions Meets with applicants; assists with application processes; assesses needs for food, utilities, housing, shelter, emotional support, spiritual care, etc; determines eligibility for resources; develops plans to address the presenting problem Provides information on resources; utilizes a person-centered approach to educate applicants utilizing a financial toolkit; coaches applicants on ways to reduce energy consumption as applicable. Facilitates the case management of families utilizing the Pathway of Hope guidelines and assessment tools; develops rapport and partnership with families; develops case plans and supports participants in establishing goals; meets regularly to track progress; coordinates referrals and works to strengthen family sufficiency Based on case plans, helps participants achieve identified goals through agency resources and referral to outside resources as available and appropriate Enhances personal knowledge and skill through agency and community forums Uses electronic database to enter, retrieve, and maintain accurate case records per protocols; manages service transactions and case plans, monitors fund balances, and requests funding as appropriate Completes program reports and fulfills ad hoc and periodic survey requests. Perform other duties as assigned Additional Responsibilities: Oversees community meals, pantry, free food market, and case manager Coordinates with leadership on the Community Angel Tree Program Organizes Thanksgiving and Christmas food basket Assembly and Distribution Organizes Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Meals Orders food for the meal program, pantry and holiday programs Serves as the Michigan Energy Assistance Program Manager for Benzie, Leelanau and Grand Traverse counties. Qualifications:Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities 2 or more years of client interview or case management experience 1 or more years of supervisory experience Experience working with low-income populations (preferred) Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Learn and adhere to The Salvation Army Social Services Code of Ethics Adhere to professional codes of ethics as they apply to professional licensing Understand and adhere to professional boundaries within and outside of the organization Maintain client confidentiality and obtain appropriate releases of information Demonstrate a continued effort to increase self-awareness and to better understand other cultures and issues of social justice, and promote racial understanding and reconciliation Complete Caseworker Certification Program within 120 days of hire Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint Willingness to learn new software as needed Certificates and Licenses: Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed Must have and maintain a current valid driver's license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR) Full Time The Salvation Army offers the following benefits: Health Care Benefits which include: Medical Dental Vision Hearing Flexible spending accounts AFLAC Voluntary life insurance benefits Short-Term and Long-Term Disability options Pet Insurance Pension contributions (currently 6.0% of your earnings) begin the first quarter after 1 year of employment.
