Call us at 812-238-7827 or email us at Registered Cardiac Sonographer Details Essential Job Duties: Anticipates activity throughout the department and performs any duties that are assigned by the supervisor. Organizes job assignments routinely and systematically. Explains purpose and procedure of all exams to patient prior to the procedure while obtaining patient history and medications. Utilizes judgement and a firm knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and testing procedures to tailor exams to meet individual patient needs while obtaining the highest quality diagnostic exam possible. Utilizes judgement and a firm knowledge of arterial/vascular/cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and testing procedures to tailor exams to meet individual patient needs while obtaining the highest quality diagnostic exam possible. Performs Transthoracic Echocardiographic studies (2D and M-mode) on inpatients and outpatients of all ages. Performs color flow doppler and spectral doppler analysis as needed. Appropriate views and grades regurgitation lesions and other flow abnormalities, obtaining gradients, measuring velocities and doppler related calculations when needed. Sets up and assists RN in patient preparation for Transesophageal Echos, assists cardiologists in the performance of exam while operating equipment to optimize images, and maintains proper care of the probe during procedure, cleaning and maintenance after. Sets up and assists RN in patient preparation for Dobutamine Stress Echo, assists cardiologists in the performance of exam while operating equipment to optimize images. Assists physician with Stress Echo while operating equipment to optimize images. Assimilates data for physician reading by completing calculations, history, diagnosis and/or symptoms. Has ability to react quickly and exhibit good judgement in a critical situation. Reviews patient data, charges, and billing information, changes linens, and cleans room and equipment after each procedure. Maintains proper functioning and safe working conditions by reporting any necessary repairs or safety hazards to supervisor to minimize down time. Maintains all equipment by cleaning and replacing any supplies needed. Exercises tact and diplomacy when scheduling and greeting patients and visitors. Attends educational seminars and conferences as requested to maintain certification and to enhance work performance. Is willing to engage in self-teaching and continuing education through the Hospital for self-improvement. Reports to and leaves work at assigned times. Completes all job duties before engaging in other duties and/or leaving shift. Relays all business calls and messages to Supervisor/Manager. Maintains strict confidentiality regarding patient and strategic Hospital information. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Hospital and departmental Policy and Procedure. Is familiar with and assists with Departmental Performance Improvement related to patient care. Is responsible for attending departmental meetings and in-services. When training begins for Vascular Ultrasound, the following duties will pertain under the supervision of a Registered Vascular Sonographer: Performs Carotid Duplex exams obtaining quality views by skillfully manipulating probe and controls - obtaining appropriate views and grades degree of stenosis and other flow abnormalities, measuring velocities and doppler-related calculations when needed. Performs Peripheral Venous imaging obtaining appropriate views that show structures well and are diagnostically correct. These include upper and lower extremity exams. Performs peripheral Arterial exams by direct (imaging) and indirect (PVRs) to identify, localize, and evaluate the severity of disease by demonstrating hand-eye coordination and skill. These include upper and lower Imaging, arterial PVRs, and Arterial Stress PVRs Qualifications: Completion of accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology or Cardiac Ultrasound Program Registered RCS through CCI or RDCS (AE) through ARDMS. Dual credentialing (Cardiac and Vascular Registry) is required within two years from the start date of training. One year of clinical experience BCLS certification Must meet and deal successfully with a wide variety of people. Flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department.
