Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple?SummaryUnder general supervision, the Heavy-duty Truck Technician inspects, diagnoses, and repairs moderately complex issues associated with diesel-powered vehicles and machines, like trucks, forklifts and construction equipment.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerforms preventative maintenance services in conformance to manufacturer specificationsDiagnoses and repairs heavy-duty vehicle and equipment systemsOrders parts as needed Responds to road calls Conducts road and static testing to verify repairsTakes vehicles to and from outside vendors for repairs and servicesMaintains a clean and orderly Fleet Shop Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentFour (4) years experience as a Diesel Engine Technician or the equivalent combination of education and experienceFurnishes own hand toolsCertificates, Licenses, Registrations Internal Candidates: Class B CDL driver's licenseEPA Section 609 CertificationASE T4, T5 & T8 CertificationsExternal Candidates: Class B CDL driver's license within 12 monthsEPA Section 609 Certification within 6 monthsASE T4, T5 & T8 Certifications within 12 monthsThank you for your interest in the position.
