Job Description:
Department Translational Behavioral Research - College of Medicine Responsibilities Participate as study personnel in collaboration with the center faculty on grant-funded projects. This position may assist in facilitating multiple research-based activities including interacting with human subjects (conducting assessments, monitoring participant data, collection of biological samples, etc.); developing and maintaining a large participant and data management system for multiple human-subject projects. This includes ensuring data integrity, compliance with regulatory requirements, and integration of innovative data management technologies. Support program evaluation components of research goals and aims; contribute to reports and presentations of program evaluation results, including analyzing data, interpreting findings in the context of research goals, and ensuring methods meet scientific standards. Participate in preparation and delivery of detailed reports to academic and community partners. Act as the liaison between the Center and home department, and other academic departments for operational, administrative, financial, and training activities related to Center contracts and awards. Develop the annual scientific and financial performance metrics and share those metrics with Center faculty and Center partners; monitor adherence to institution procedures as they relate to research; facilitate academic and scientific journal clubs, faculty think tanks, and educational workshops relevant to current and future research project planning; and assist in developing and facilitating strategic planning initiatives aligned with the scientific goals of the Center. Provide assistance to faculty and facilitate clinical trial studies, including, providing consultation on the drafting and refinement of study protocols and standard operating procedures that are project specific, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and scientific best practices; report study results to ClinicalTrials.gov and other external study sponsors and regulatory bodies; serve as point of contact with external state and federal sponsors for scientific, regulatory and financial reporting in compliance with sponsor requirements; and develop and implement research and center-specific training materials for personnel, such as onboarding new faculty and personnel and ensuring continuous education on evolving scientific standards. Support the community engagement staff to encourage communities to engage more with research activities by developing and implementing community engagement initiatives and activities to achieve target study cohorts; and advise on methods for effective strategies for community engagement in research and support strategies to enhance community trust in research. Participate in the scientific publication and submission process, including, assisting with paper concept development, providing scientific input, conducting literature reviews, and integrating findings to manuscripts by assisting with pre-submission editing and proofreading, graphics editing, and preparation of files and submission. Assist with study materials that are project and population specific including, developing IRB protocols, consent forms, engagement materials, and other study materials that meet university and IRB standards; and advise on integration of biobehavioral interventions or activities to achieve study aims. Mentor student and non-student research project personnel. Coordinate research facilities and equipment, including phlebotomy and biological specimen storage, maintenance of scientific equipment, and assisting with lab technology purchasing. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in psychology, behavioral science, or a related field and two years (24 months) of experience in the psychological/behavioral/clinical research field, or, in the alternative, the employer will accept a master's degree in psychology, behavioral science, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Experience participating in multiple biobehavioral and psychological research projects and developing, implementing, and evaluating behavioral and mental health research studies and ability to identify and implement process improvement procedures. Experience compiling, reviewing, and reconciling data for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and metric reporting. Demonstrated understanding of a broad range of quantitative and qualitative research techniques and methodologies. Experience in scientific writing, editing, and publishing as well as ad hoc reviewing for scientific journals as evidenced by first-author and other publications in scientific journals. Strong theoretical and analytical skills. Ability to synthesize information and provide insightful and accurate analyses and recommendations. Experience with the concepts, principles, and practices of accounting, budgeting, and cost-control procedures related to large grant-funded research studies Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment. Experience in problem-solving and developing collaboration between investigators and institutions. Communication skills, both oral and written necessary to interact with funding agencies, research sites, study personnel, and FSU staff. Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to relate to study participants in a calm manner. Experience with the concepts, principles, and practices of accounting, budgeting, and cost-control procedures. Experience maintaining accurate records and retrieving files from active or archival sources within systems. Familiarity with grant-funding sources. Ability to communicate and report on research accounting updates, pre-award and post-award progress, ongoing awards, extensions, etc. Experience mentoring student volunteers and student research assistants. Knowledge of the principles and practices of event planning and ability to coordinate, organize, and evaluate meetings and/or other events. Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
