Pierce County Refuse Lemay is seeking a reliable, safety-focused Diesel Mechanic in Frederickson, WA, to support our heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance teams. Waste and environmental services are critical to daily operations in every community, providing dependable, year-round career opportunities.Compensation & BenefitsHourly Rate: $37.00 – $41.00/hour (DOE)CDL Premium: Additional $1.00/hour for Class A or B CDL holdersShift Differential: +$1.50/hour for swing shiftBenefits include:Medical, dental, and vision insuranceRetirement plan (401k) with employer matchPaid time off, paid sick leave, and holidaysOngoing training and professional developmentOvertime pay, tool allowance, and employee recognition programsSchedule & OvertimeShift: Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PMOvertime: Average 8–10 hours/week; paid at 1.5×Swing shift with differential appliedKey ResponsibilitiesConduct scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and trailersDiagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systemsUse diagnostic tools and software (Cummins Insite, Davie‑4, Allison DOC)Perform DOT and OSHA‑compliant safety inspectionsExecute MIG welding and basic fabrication tasksTest drive vehicles to confirm repair quality and performanceRecord repairs, parts, and hours using fleet maintenance softwareReview and address Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environmentCommunicate clearly with drivers, supervisors, and team membersFollow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety proceduresRequired QualificationsMinimum of 3 years of heavy truck/diesel mechanic experienceExperience with diagnostics and repair of heavy-duty equipmentValid Driver’s License (Class B CDL preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days)Welding experience (MIG) preferredStrong understanding of DOT, OSHA, and vehicle safety standardsAbility to read and apply technical documentationAbility to work independently and as part of a teamMust have own basic tool setSAFETY SENSITIVE: YESTo be considered for any of our current openings, you must complete an application at .
