American Implement is seeking a Service Manager for our dealership in Sublette, Kansas. A Service Manager is an integral part of the aftermarket team and must have communication and organizational skills while also being business savvy and maintaining a strong customer focus. This position reports to the Location Manager and Director of Service. Candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and have a clean motor vehicle record. EOE. POSITION SUMMARY: American Implement is seeking a motivated leader to head the service department that has strong interpersonal skills, can multi-task and continuously build and grow a loyal customer base while building the skill-sets, productivity and efficiency of the service department. In this role, one will oversee the operations of the service department by actively managing work orders, service calls, inspections, warranty work, product improvement programs as well as developing technicians to provide the highest standards of customer service. To be successful, the Service Manager will implement and follow various processes, collaborate with others, recruit and build talent internally, and execute a marketing plan while encouraging teamwork throughout the dealership. This position supervises Service Technicians, Set-up Technicians, Ag Tech Interns, Detail Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, and Service Admin Personnel. COMPENSATION: Total earning potential will vary depending on your department's success and the overall performance of your location. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Develops, communicates, enforces and monitors effective Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Creates annual Service Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization's financial and operational objectives. Develops and executes Service Department marketing plan and monitors monthly to ensure achievement of departmental goals. Coordinates customer clinics, field days, and related promotional events. Submits all service warranty and Product Improvement Program claims within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit to the Central Warranty Administrator. Schedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledge. Reviews repair orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing. Ensures all departmental tools, equipment and vehicles are in good working order. Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position. Assists with the development and training of service personnel and completes performance reviews of service staff. Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion. Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments. Maintains knowledge of John Deere and competitive products. QUALIFICATIONS: 3+ years' experience in service department operations. Strong technical background with heavy equipment required. Experience in supervision and management. Familiar with John Deere and competitive products. Strong salesmanship skills with a proven ability to deliver service solutions, build trust and drive customer loyalty. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proficient computer skills. Basic understanding of financial principles related to Service Department operations. Experience using Service Advisor or other computer based diagnostic repair tools is preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching overhead, must be able to regularly lift 50 lbs. without assistance, driving a vehicle, extensive hours on a computer, hearing normal tones, and seeing.
