Our team generates valuable research and insights that shape our investment strategies and inform the product directions at Coinbase, managing a diverse portfolio of over 500 projects across the globe. Your Role as Principal: Lead investments from inception to completion, overseeing thesis development, category mapping, sourcing, evaluation, closing deals, and ongoing support. Publish insightful thought leadership and act as a subject matter expert in one or more technical domains, such as DeFi, for Coinbase Ventures and its executives. Create innovative onchain investment strategies and manage portfolio liquidity effectively. Drive special projects that enhance Coinbase’s product strategy and contribute to building the Coinbase Ventures platform. Qualifications: A minimum of seven years of professional experience, ideally within a reputable firm or organization. A strong passion for and deep expertise in one or more onchain domains; you are fully embedded in the onchain community. Excellent long-term investment judgment with superior critical reasoning skills. Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and communication capabilities with a strong work ethic. Experience in founder-facing roles, demonstrating effective communication, empathy, and a supportive approach. A BA/BS degree. Preferred Qualifications: Significant experience working on live deals with a strong investment track record. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus. Job #: P64182 Compensation Transparency: The target annual base salary for this position ranges from $193,970 to $228,200 USD based on your work location. Full-time offers from Coinbase include eligibility for bonuses, equity options, and comprehensive benefits like medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
