Now Hiring: Scalehouse / Maintenance Worker Solid Waste Division The City of St. Cloud Public Works Department is seeking a dependable and motivated Scalehouse/Maintenance Worker to support operations at our Solid Waste / Transfer Station Division. This position combines customer-facing scalehouse duties with hands-on facility maintenance, helping ensure our operations run smoothly and safely for the community. In this role, you will assist customers by collecting fees, processing transactions through point-of-sale and scalehouse software systems and providing courteous service to the public. You will also help maintain the facility through routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, debris collection, and minor repairs to keep the site safe, clean, and organized. Typical Working Hours: Monday Friday, 7:00 AM 4:00 PM, with rotational Saturdays scheduled. Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Operate the mule in debris collection at the site, including entrance road and byways. Operates riding mower, and other small engine mechanical devices, such as edger, weed eater, saws, trimmers, blower and pressure washer. Use manual laboring tools to assist the overall appearance of the site. Assists in the performance of regular and routine maintenance and landscaping, cleaning, painting, repairs and delivers equipment for repair. Be Customer friendly. Greets and directs customers, as appropriate Collect tipping fees/be able to run a Point-of-Sale credit card machine. Successfully run the inbound and outbound lines of the scalehouse and the scalehouse software. Be able to cover absences, vacations and breaks of the normal scalehouse personnel. Be able to accurately relay information to other yard personnel. Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school graduation or GED equivalent is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid FL state Diver's License with an acceptable driving history. Possess and maintain the Solid Waste Spotter Certificate (8 hours) or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment. Mathematics: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
