Join us for an exciting opportunity to be part of the launch of our brand-new YMCA facility in Spring Grove!The Child Watch Attendant is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while their parents or guardians utilize YMCA programs and facilities. This role ensures children are supervised at all times and creates a positive experience that reflects the YMCA's commitment to youth development and family support.Schedule:Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM–11:00 AM & 5:00 PM–7:00 PMFriday: 9:00 AM–11:00 AMSaturday: 9:00 AM–11:00 AMNo Sunday hoursNo Friday or Saturday evening hoursPOSITION SUMMARY:A Child Watch Attendant is a direct care position responsible for assisting in the implementation of daily program activities and care of YMCA member's children while in Child Watch. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Supervises, actively participates in, and assists children in activitiesPractices basic safety and health policies; guides children clean-up routines, bathroom habits and general developmentCompletes required documentation (i.e. incident reports)Practices infection control procedures and proper hand washingEstablishes and maintains a child friendly center. Implements appropriate discipline techniques as neededKnows fire and emergency procedures and acts accordingly when necessaryMaintains current Pediatric and Child CPR and First Aid certifications. Completes child abuse prevention and appropriate touch trainings on an annual basisAttends staff meetingsReports any suspected abuse to coordinator/ directorPrepares center materials as neededResponsible to know and follow established policies and procedures of the YMCA and Child WatchMaintains a positive attitude toward children and their familiesMaintains confidentiality and treats all families with dignity and respectPerforms all janitorial duties (i.e. wiping down tables, sweeping the floor, etc.)All other duties as assignedLEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:Communication & InfluenceEngaging CommunityInclusionEmotional Maturity QUALIFICATIONS:A high school diploma or general educational development certificate preferredA minimum of an 8th grade education and 500 documented hours of experience with childrenObtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearanceMust have or obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED and First AidMust have or obtain mandated reporter trainingWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
