Position Summary The Vice President of Allied & Ambulatory Health provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for a broad portfolio of ancillary, ambulatory, rehabilitative, and support services within a 120-bed community hospital. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, labor alignment, operational efficiency, and financial performance across assigned service lines. Reporting Relationship Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer Scope of Responsibility The Vice President provides executive oversight for multiple clinical and operational departments and has indirect responsibility for approximately 400 employees. The role works closely with department directors, medical staff leadership, nursing leadership, and union representatives, where applicable. Departments Overseen Laboratory Services Pharmacy Services Ambulatory Services (Westhampton Primary Care, Edie Windsor, Shinnecock, Dialysis, Cancer Center, Breast Center, Wound Center) Rehabilitative Services (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Wellness) Radiology Non-Invasive Cardiology Food and Nutrition Services Security Services Engineering and Facilities Management Environmental Services Services and Clinical Support Services Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide strategic and operational leadership for all assigned ancillary, ambulatory, and clinical and non-clinical support service lines. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including CMS, NYSDOH, and Joint Commission standards. Oversee quality, patient safety, infection prevention, and risk management initiatives within assigned departments. Collaborate with union leadership, Human Resources, and Labor Relations to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Participate in labor-management discussions, grievance resolution processes, and workforce planning activities. Develop, manage, and monitor operating and capital budgets while ensuring fiscal accountability. Lead performance improvement, access expansion, and operational efficiency initiatives across inpatient and ambulatory settings. Ensure staffing models, productivity standards, and scheduling practices align with contractual, regulatory, and patient care requirements. Support the recruitment, development, coaching, and performance management of department directors and managers. Partner with medical staff, nursing leadership, and executive peers to align service delivery with organizational strategy and goals. Union and Labor Relations This position operates within a unionized healthcare environment. The Vice President of Allied & Ambulatory Health is responsible for ensuring departmental operations are conducted in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements. The role works collaboratively with Human Resources and Labor Relations to support contract interpretation, workforce planning, staffing models, disciplinary processes, grievance resolution, and the implementation of operational or organizational changes affecting represented employees. Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities The Vice President is accountable for maintaining regulatory readiness and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and accreditation standards governing hospital and ambulatory operations. This includes, but is not limited to, requirements established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), The Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other applicable regulatory or accrediting agencies. The role supports regulatory surveys, audits, and inspections; ensures timely development and execution of corrective action plans; and promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and compliance across all assigned service lines. Qualifications Education & Experience: Master’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field required. Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience, including senior-level oversight of multiple service lines. Experience working within a unionized healthcare environment strongly preferred. As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.
