Position Title: Transportation Supervisor Exempt Status: ExemptAccountable To: Transportation ManagerJob Summary: Supervise and dispatch drivers and working with other areas of routing and departments. Accountable for training of new employees and introducing new process, methods and technology. In the event being prepared to run route in event of a call off or need arises. Hold drivers accountable for results and fosters an environment that is conducive to teamwork in keeping with our stated Core Values (lead by example). Anticipates, analyzes and troubleshoots problems with deliveries and devises cost-effective and legal solutions; and acts to implement same. Utilizing manpower efficiently and equitably to achieve the goals of the department and satisfy the customer.Duties/Responsibilities: Engage members of transportation team. Conduct reviews with hourly team twice a year. Focus on Safety Review any accidents or injuries with employee. Do observations after any accidents or injuries as part of the review process in addition to the twice a year under review. Take phone reports from drivers and follow accident reporting procedure Visit the domicile sites Kalamazoo, Fort Wayne (both Stanz and Troyer), and Defiance at least once a week. Introduce new procedures and Technology assisting with training. Assist in maintain and update ELD. Overseeing training for team members and refreshers Fill in for drivers if needed to make deliveries. Attend weekly department meetings. Conduct customer site visits. Administer DOT drug testing procedures. Administer any discipline according to company policy and Union contractWorking with Routing Supervisor to make changes according to feedback from drivers on routes and start times. Learn to be back up for Routing supervisor. Assist and develop Standard Operating Procedures Other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities:Holding a valid Class "A" CDL and maintain a current DOT physical & drug screen is required. Must be fully trained in all functions of a Delivery Driver. Supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Must be able to use good judgment in decision making. Computer experience required, Word, Excel, Outlook preferred. Prior foodservice experience is a plus. Knowledge of DOT requirements and laws Ability to be patient; training new and existing employees. Be able to work remotely with little interaction with office Physical Requirements:Occasionally perform physical work in all types of weather conditions from very warm to very cold temperatures Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of times Walking, bending, reaching, twisting, lifting (up to 75 lbs.) and walking a loaded (250-500 lbs.) dolly down a 20-foot ramp and into the customer location Ability to do all the above with multiple replications a minimum of an 8-hour period. Driving safely in every kind of weather and/or traffic condition Warehouse environment with noise, dust, odors and a diversity from very warm to very cold temperatures Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disability to perform essential function.
