ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSA De Marillac Academy teacher is a talented and committed teacher ready to contribute to a positive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and socio-emotional wellness for all students. DMA teachers serve as an academic, emotional, and spiritual model in the Lasallian Vincentian formation of students. In addition to providing direct classroom instruction, teachers partner closely with our Academic Resource program and school counseling teams to provide holistic care and communication to students and their families. Teachers also serve as mentors to the Associate teacher on their grade-level team. Teachers strive to create an environment where students can achieve their highest potential, as measured by demonstrable academic and social gains. The De Marillac Academic Calendar includes summer school and is 11 months long.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPlanning and TeachingTeach one or more core subjects (Language Arts, History, Math, Religion, and Science)Utilize a variety of teaching methodologies to create an engaging and safe classroom settingProvide differentiated instructionProvide reasonable accommodations as stated in student ISPPrepare students to lead prayers for morning assembliesDevelop and implement curriculum maps and weekly lesson plansDevelop and implement classroom community activitiesUtilize testing results and data such as STAR to inform and differentiate instruction based on individual and class resultsServe as Religious CoordinatorPlan Mass with homeroom teachers by creating Mass scripts, preparing the slides, and assigning studentsCoordinate with community partners for Mass outside of DMAPrepare, plan, and execute retreats for each grade levelDevelop and implement a retreat sequence for each grade levelPlan and coordinate service projects for each grade levelSupport the principal in coordinating feast day, holy day, and other religious celebrations as neededGradingAssess, monitor, and evaluate student progress towards student goalsPrepare progress reports/report cards, keep appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, and other record keeping activities as necessaryTrack grades, records, and provide consistent feedback to students weeklyClassroom ManagementMaintain effective classroom management and cultivate an atmosphere conducive to learningMonitor student socio-emotional health and well-being and partner with students, families, and administration to develop healthy relationships, self-care, and emotional regulationEstablish and maintain school expectations of student behavior and classroom environment, utilizing restorative justice practicesKeeps an accurate record of attendance and tardiesKeeps an emergency lesson plan and current substitute folder in case of an unexpected absenceCommunicationCommunicates professionally with all and within 24 hoursCollaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, and families for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomesSchedule and facilitate class meetings and conferences with familiesSchedules field trips and/or advises grade level lead teacher when field trips are plannedProvide student notes and participate in grade level care council meetingsMeetings and EventsAttend weekly faculty/staff meetings and teacher talksAttend and participate in coaching sessionsAttends priority school events as listed in the faculty-staff handbookAttend all professional development and faith formation meetingsParticipate in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of discussing relevant issues, developing skills, and learning best practices required to perform functions.Participate in staff orientation prior to the start of the school yearREQUIRED FOR THIS POSITIONBachelor's DegreeTeaching Credential (or in progress of obtaining one)2-3 years of teaching experiencePracticing CatholicObtained or in progress of obtaining catechetical certificateExperience working with middle school youth and familiesPassionate commitment to social justice and educational equityOpenness to embracing and promoting the Lasallian Vincentian mission and identity of De Marillac AcademyStrong interest in building community and fostering relationshipsProficient in Microsoft 365 products, Google Suite, and Google ClassroomRequires some long hours working at the computerSome evening and weekend responsibilitiesAbility to lift 30 poundsPreferredMaster's DegreeBilingual in Spanish, Tagalog, or Vietnamese and EnglishFamiliarity and sensitivity with working with underserved and historically marginalized communities.COMPENSATIONSalary range for this role is $82,967-$128,847. A comprehensive benefits package is provided, including a transportation stipend. Opportunity for weekly remote work day available.
