COMPANY DESCRIPTION:Operating since 1979, Textainer is one of the world's largest intermodal container lessors with more than 4 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) in our owned and managed fleet.We supply standard dry freight, specialized, and refrigerated containers to more than 250 global customers, including all of the world's leading shipping lines. We lease tank containers through our relationship with Trifleet Leasing.Our company also leads the resale industry, having secured our status as one of the largest sellers of used containers. Over 1,500 customers call upon Textainer yearly to purchase more than 140,000 units.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAssist with the monthly general ledger close process, ensuring that the process provides timely and accurate financial reportingPerform certain areas of the monthly close (prepare journal entries and reconciliations)Prepare account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and account analysisPrepare audit schedules for external auditorsAssist with management reporting and ad hoc reporting as requiredAssist with compliance with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures and reporting requirementsAssist with monthly P&L Balance Sheet variance/flux analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of balancesWork with other team members to resolve reconciliation discrepanciesCollaborate with other departments to ensure business transactions have been properly recordedAssist in the creation and/or documentation of accounting policies, processes, and proceduresUnderstand the various accounting systems used and evaluate and recommend changes for performance, efficiency, and growth, drive process improvements and system automationKnowledge, skills and abilities:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related degree1-3 years of accounting experienceProficient excel skills required (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)Experience supporting a full cycle closeAbility to perform month-end fluctuation analysisBe a strong team player - enjoy working with colleagues at all levels of the organizationTake ownership of job responsibilities and ad hoc projectsStrong understanding and working knowledge of GAAP requiredDetail-oriented and shows willingness to learnDeadline-orientedExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independentlyWorking knowledge of Oracle Fixed Assets and Oracle ERP a plusPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift 5 pounds at times.Textainer is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on any protected status.
