The Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Corrections General Industries Factory Foreperson to oversee our Laundry Plant at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Somerset. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will instruct and oversee inmate workers in the manufacturing, production, or processing of products or services within the laundry plant. Your work will involve training inmate workers in the techniques and methods needed for the production of products and services. This will also include the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of tools and equipment. You will submit attendance for liability and payroll purposes, as well as provide inmate progress reports. Some of your duties will also include conducting searches of inmates and work areas for contraband, as well as accounting for inventory of tools and supplies. Additionally, you will participate in the development of product specifications and production goals. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: * Full-time employment, 40 hours per week * Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday. * This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. * Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. * Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes). * You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: * Three years of experience in the production of goods or services; or * An associate degree in industrial technology, operations management, business administration, or a related field; and one year of work experience in the production of goods or services; or * An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of work experience in the production of goods or services.
