Project Controller

Project Controller Somerset, NJ (Hybrid after initial onsite ramp-up) $110,000-$120,000 base + bonus 15-20% travel This is a hands-on, project-based finance role supporting large, complex industrial projects. If your background is primarily corporate FP&A or enterprise reporting, this role will not be a fit. We are looking for a Project Controller who will partner directly with Project Managers to protect margins, manage risk, and ensure financial discipline from proposal through completion. What You'll Do Own project cost, revenue, margin, and cash flow tracking Recalculate forecasts and analyze variances Review and control change orders Support month-end close, accruals, and financial accuracy Support invoicing and monitor receivables Maintain project milestones and budgets in SAP Identify financial risks and escalate when needed Support tendering and contract negotiations Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Sales, and Site teams Travel to project sites as required You will challenge numbers. You will push back when budgets drift. You will serve as the financial backbone of assigned projects. Required Experience 5+ years of project-based accounting or commercial project finance Construction, industrial, telecom, infrastructure, EPC, or capital project experience Direct experience reviewing change orders and managing cost-to-complete forecasts Experience partnering directly with Project Managers Strong Excel skills SAP experience Compensation & Benefits $110,000-$120,000 base Performance-based bonus 100% employer-paid medical & dental 401(k) with match Generous PTO Before You Apply This is not a corporate FP&A or strategy-only finance role.
