This position is located at the Royal C Johnson VA Health Care System in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This is an open continuous announcement until May 28, 2026. This position is located in the Specialty Medicine Service Line at the Sioux Falls VA Healthcare System and reports directly to the Chief of Specialty Medicine. Physician provides consultation services and follow up of medical subspecialty patients, in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting, at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The staff Hematologist/Oncologist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties. * Evaluate, triage, and prioritize consult requests to ensure timely care for patients suspected of having Hematology/Oncology needs. * Order and supervise the administration of chemotherapeutic agents. * Participate in the multi disciplinary tumor board. * Perform bone marrow aspiration and biopsies. * Perform goals of care conversations and collaborate with the Hospice and Palliative Care team to coordinate care and manage symptoms of patients with advanced disease. * Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews, and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE). * Provide on call services as needed . * Provide clinical supervision and support to any Physician Assistants and/or Nurse Practitioners working in the Hematology/Oncology clinic. * Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, teams, workgroups as requested. Physician will be required to attend staff meetings, serves on committees, teams, workgroups, and peer reviews as requested. Completes CME, VA Training, HIPAA, Security training, and other training mandatory trainings. In additional to the duties listed above the Physician will provide clinical care within the Hematology/Oncology privileges approved by MEC. Coordination with radiation oncology, surgical oncology, and other specialists for multidisciplinary care planning * Interpretation of pathology, imaging, and molecular/genomic testing results * Survivorship care and long-term follow-up planning * Participation in quality improvement initiatives and clinical outcome tracking * Compliance with national quality metrics (e.g., QOPI certification if applicable) * Maintenance of board certification and required continuing medical education * Documentation in electronic health records with adherence to billing and compliance standards * Participation in clinical trial enrollment and research activities * Teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, or fellows * Development and updating of institutional treatment protocols and pathway * Infusion center oversight A offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
