Job Summary PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Specialist, Technical Support in Scottsdale, AZ. Responsibilities Combine software engineering practices with system administration to ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability of complex systems, cloud"‘based applications, and infrastructure by proactively monitoring, automating tasks, and rapidly responding to incidents to maintain high uptime and service levels. Optimize system health and stability through automation and continuous improvement. Guide creation and maintenance of reusable enterprise systems, infrastructure, and cloud technology solutions. Support design of full"‘stack cloud and hybrid"‘cloud technology solutions in collaboration with application development teams. Own existing technology solutions, design and proactively collaborate with key stakeholders to increase efficiency, recommend improvements that increase resiliency, automation, and reduce manual effort. Help create roadmaps to sunset, replace, and decommission legacy implementations as new capabilities are introduced. Support and maintain distributed storage technologies. Develop procedures and documentation of activities to produce standard operating procedures (SOP). Conduct security assessments, execute security patching, and implement best practices to ensure a secure and compliant environment. Design, provision, and maintain AWS infrastructure and services using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation) to ensure availability, performance, security, and scalability with a focus on High Availability (HA) and fault tolerance. Support product infrastructure builds by installing, provisioning, and patching Dev/QA/PROD environment systems across cloud and on"‘prem platforms. Support data backup/data recovery plans and procedures, conduct regular backups, data replication, and thorough recovery testing to ensure integrity and availability of critical systems. Manage Active Directory/LDAP structure for account policies, user accounts, and service role accounts. Manage OS performance and compliance for bi"‘annual OS patching on Linux and Solaris database servers. Manage Cloud and Hybrid"‘Cloud IaC and dependencies, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in AWS DevOps/GitHub along with other configuration management best practices. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance. Minimum Requirements Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in a related occupation. Special Skill Requirements Linux/System Administration: kernel upgrades, patching, performance tuning, and storage/file system management (5 years). Networking Protocols & Services: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, SFTP, Telnet, and subnetting (5 years). Scripting: Shell, Bash, Python, and/or Perl (5 years). Security & Identity Management: SSL/TLS, VPNs, IPSec, LDAP, and Active Directory (3 years). Monitoring/Logging Tools: Splunk or DataDog (3 years). Database Support: Oracle and PostgreSQL (3 years).
