Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Casualty Underwriter (5-10 years) to underwrite complex primary and excess casualty risks across both admitted and non-admitted platforms. This role focuses heavily on construction, contractors, builders risk, and habitational accounts, requiring strong technical underwriting skills, market presence, and a production-driven mindset. The ideal candidate brings deep casualty expertise, established broker relationships, and the ability to balance disciplined risk selection with profitable growth.ResponsibilitiesUnderwrite and price complex mono-line casualty accounts within construction, contractors, builders risk, and habitational segments.Evaluate exposures, loss history, financials, operations, and risk controls to determine appropriate terms and pricing.Structure coverage solutions for both admitted and non-admitted placements.Maintain underwriting discipline while driving profitable growth.Actively develop and expand relationships with wholesale and retail brokers.Drive new business production and renewal retention through consistent market engagement.Represent the company at broker meetings, industry events, and client visits.Identify new opportunities and emerging trends within target industries.Manage a growing book of casualty business with accountability for profitability and performance.Monitor results, identify adverse trends, and recommend corrective actions.Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and risk engineering to ensure alignment on risk strategy.Maintain accurate documentation, file notes, and rating analyses.Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.Support audits, internal reviews, and reporting as needed.Qualifications5-10 years of casualty underwriting experience, preferably with complex or construction-focused risks.Strong knowledge of construction, contractors, builders risk, and habitational exposures.Experience underwriting admitted and non-admitted casualty business.Proven production track record with strong, established broker relationships.Ability to negotiate terms, communicate decisions clearly, and represent the company professionally.Strong analytical, technical, and decision-making skills.Bachelor's degree required; industry designations (CPCU, AU, ARM) a plus.Pay range and compensation package$130,000 to $180,000
