Job Description:
Founding Design InternHybrid, San Francisco Bay Area(This is an intern/contract role) Ngram is building the video creation platform for businesses. Most teams know they should be using more video, but the process is still too slow, too expensive, and too fragmented. Ngram turns raw materials like docs, images, URLs, and screen recordings into polished, on-brand business videos. We help teams go from idea to script to storyboard to final video in minutes. We are growing quickly, already serving thousands of users, and this is a super critical role for the company. We are a very small, sharp, fast-moving team, and we do not have a designer today. That is exactly why this role matters. This is not a support design internship where you polish edges on someone else's vision. This is a chance to help design the canvas itself: the product experience, the creative system, the visual language, and the standards for how business video should feel inside the product. We are looking for someone highly ambitious, highly creative, and unusually strong with AI-native workflows. You should care equally about product clarity and visual taste. You should be excited by the idea of designing for business users while also shaping how style, motion, and creative direction come to life in a video product. This is a high-expectation, high-ownership role with real surface area. The right person will leave with a body of work that is unusually substantial for an intern, and this internship has the potential to convert into a full-time role for the right candidate. What You'll DoOwn meaningful parts of Ngram's product and visual design from concept through shipped workDesign user flows, product surfaces, interaction patterns, and core UX for a business video platformHelp define Ngram's visual language across product, brand, motion, and creative directionExplore and operationalize different content styles, video aesthetics, and presentation systems for business usersTurn complex creative choices into simple, intuitive decisions inside the productWork closely with founders and engineering to translate ideas into production-quality experiencesUse AI tools deeply in your design process for exploration, iteration, and creative leverageContribute code where appropriate, especially for production UI, prototypes, or design-adjacent implementationCoordinate and collaborate closely with a 10-person remote teamRaise the quality bar across the company on taste, clarity, speed, and craftWhat We're Looking ForStrong product design instincts and tasteStrong visual design ability; you have real creative range, not just clean SaaS screensComfort working across product UX, brand, creative systems, and motion-oriented thinkingHigh fluency with AI tools for design, ideation, content generation, and workflow accelerationAbility to communicate design decisions simply and clearlyWillingness to ship, not just hand off mocksSome ability to write production-quality front-end code or prototypesComfort operating in ambiguity and moving with speedAbility to collaborate across time zones with a distributed teamHigh standards, strong ownership, and real ambitionYou May Be a Fit IfYou want to prove yourself quickly in a role with real surface areaYou care about both usability and aesthetic originalityYou like working on products where design affects the core value, not just the polish layerYou want unusually direct access to decision-making and product directionYou are excited by the intersection of AI, product design, and creative toolingWhy This Role Is DifferentYou will help define design at Ngram from the ground upYour work will directly shape the product, not sit on the sidelinesYou will work on a product where visual judgment is part of the core experienceYou will operate with real responsibility on a small, fast-moving teamNgram is scaling quickly, and design quality will have outsized impact on the company's trajectoryIf you are exceptional, this role can become much bigger than an internshipLocation Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area
