Compensation: Salary Grade: CS112 Minimum Starting Rate: $17.82 Final offer will be based on relevant experience, education, and other applicable factors. Compensation Type: Hourly Employment Type: Regular FLSA: Non-Exempt Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Position Summary Provides personal, equipment, and real property security for faculty, staff, students, and visitors within an assigned area of the campus. Provides escort services, and other basic public assistance services as needed, and performs routine security and public safety patrol duties within assigned area. Remains alert to emergency situations and provides first-line response, emergency management, and/or referral if required. Duties & Responsibilities Ensures the safety and security of the campus community by actively monitoring and patrolling campus areas and systems, providing assistance to campus employees, students and visitors, directing traffic, and enforcing campus policies. Responds to all campus emergencies, investigates accidents, incidents, suspicious persons, and policy violations, and prepares timely incident reports. Provides appropriate intervention to de-escalate confrontational situations and notifies proper authorities or administrative staff of criminal and policy violations. Monitors all fire applications and conducts emergency evacuations and fire drills. Conducts monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency notification towers, elevator phones, automated external defibrillators, and exterior and interior lighting. Monitors bio-mass and computer server rooms to ensure safety protocols are followed and verifies that equipment is operating according to official parameters. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; no previous experience required. Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual (English/Spanish) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to provide First Aid, AED and CPR as required Ability to successfully conduct security patrols without direct supervision. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to complete routine paperwork. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Skill in performing building security and lock procedures. Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures. Skill in providing protection services to individuals on campus. Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel. Conditions of Employment: Must have CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or complete this training within 60 days of employment. Must obtain Level Two Security Training Certification within 6 months of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid NM driver's license. Must pass a pre-employment background check. Work Hours: This position is required to work onsite in Santa Fe, NM. Typical work shifts can be day shift, swing shifts and weekends depending on the needs of the department. Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Moderate physical activity; requires handling of objects up to 50 pounds and standing or walking for extended periods of time.
