Why does the job exist?The Regional Navigator will provide a high level of customer service to all prospective relative and non-relative foster and adoptive families and guides them in navigating the child welfare system. The Navigator begins this high level of customer services upon first contact and continues through first placement. This support shall cultivate positive relationships and result in an increased number of new families achieving licensure, reduce the length of time to achieve licensure and improve retention of prospective and newly licensed families. How does it get done?The Navigator will respond to all inquiries timely, provide support to all prospective relative and non-relative foster and adoptive families, and provide follow up on retention efforts with existing families as outlined in each assigned county's specific targeted recruitment and retention plan; The Navigator takes a lead role in general and targeted recruitment planning in each county in the region and evaluates recruitment strategies individually to assess quality and completion as per CYFD policy and procedures; The Navigator partners with agency supervisor and staff to solicit feedback, teaming and collaboration in recruitment, support of families and retaining efforts. Ideal CandidateExperience as it relates to: Working directly with Children, Youth, and their families; Partner with Community Service providers as it relates to Children, and Youth; Working with Youth in a school setting; Determining eligibility for services that might be needed for the Children, Youth and Families; Conduct and complete assessments of safety, risks, strengths, and family needs; Developing Safety plans for the Children, Youth and Families; Participate in multidisciplinary meetings; Identify, provide, and/or arrange timely assessments/evaluations/ interviews; Conduct medical case management activities for eligible clients. Minimum QualificationHigh School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Working ConditionsOffice setting with extensive use of personal computer, telephone, fax, copier and other related office equipment that involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching, etc. to include lifting up to 30 pounds.
