Central payroll is responsible for the processing and payment of wages to all State of New Mexico employees. The State has 124 agencies employing over 24,000 active employees and over 4,000 National Guardsmen in the payroll system. Central payroll processes all corrections, changes or additions to pay based on agency submissions. Additionally, pay checks are processed on a bi-weekly basis for all time entered and approved for active employees. Why does the job exist? We are looking for a dynamic, creative, energetic, and strategic Training Supervisor who has proven leadership to manage the Central Payroll multifaceted training department, including but not limited to: one on one and statewide Agency training, on site assistance to Agency s, SOP (standard operating procedure) development for Central Payroll, training material and presentation development, federal and state personnel law compliance, and New Mexico State Personnel Board Rule compliance. This detail-oriented professional will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the activities for the Central Payroll bureau by ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the department's mission and talent strategy. This is a hands-on position responsible for delivering core training resource functions (Agency and employee development) as well as providing Agency payroll assistance. A primary responsibility of the position will include the development-and implementation of a concise payroll Resource Strategy that sets the direction for all key areas of payroll. How does it get done? This position leads the Central Payroll training department and supports the Central Payroll mission and goals. The Training Supervisor will ensure compliance with federal and state laws, federal and state personnel law compliance, and New Mexico State Personnel Board. The Training Supervisor shall provide consultation to Agency HR staff, Agency management on all aspects of payroll. This position will direct and complete training presentations on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis; develop training materials, SOP s and provide on site assistance to Agency as needed. Will ensure Central Payroll staff are cross trained and will role fill for Central Payroll as needed. Who are the customers? All State of New Mexico Agencies Ideal Candidate The Ideal Candidate for the Training Supervisor position will have training experience. They will be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, TEAMS, Word, PP and Excel. ELM experience desired. They will be able to assess training needs, adapt teaching styles and have the ability to design and present training material. The ideal candidate will offer strategic approaches to the effective management of the department to gain a competitive advantage. Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration and eight (8) years of directly related experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling twelve (12) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements State issued ID or Driver's License. Pre-employment criminal background check is required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Travel is required for meetings, on site Agency assistance and conferences.
