Job Description:
We're hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local hospital in Santa Cruz, CA where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.Minimum Requirements: Associate or bachelor's degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.Current California Respiratory Care license in good standing.Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience; diverse critical care experience desired. First-time travelers are acceptable.Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.NRP and PALS certifications required.Experience with Cerner electronic medical record system preferred.Experience in acute inpatient settings including ICU, ER, and MedSurg required. Experience with Drager V500 ventilators in ICU preferred.Ability to work scheduled weekend rotation (every other weekend) and participate in holiday rotation with permanent staff.Scrub color: black required; scrub jacket optional but must be black; undershirts must be white or black under scrub top.Assignment DetailsFacility Type: Hospital.Unit: Respiratory Therapy covering ICU, ER, and MedSurg (travelers are not expected to cover NICU).Shift Name: Days.Shift Details: Days 0600-1800 (12-hour shifts, 6:00a-6:30p noted for some shifts).Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Sat/Sun) for day or night shifts.Orientation: 12 hours hospital orientation plus approximately 1 week floor-specific orientation.Coverage Model: RT coverage 24/7 with hospitalist or intensivist in-house during the day and on-call at night.Caseload: Approximately 15-25 treatments per day. Typical team size: 3-6 RTs scheduled per shift.Ventilator Equipment: Drager V500 used in ICU.Charting System: Cerner.Floating: Candidate may be required to cover multiple units within the hospital as needed.Location Highlights Santa Cruz offers coastal recreation and easy access to outdoor destinations.
