TEAM SUMMARY:HART, Huckleberry's Advocacy & Response Team, provides holistic advocacy and direct services to youth and young adults ages 11-24 who are vulnerable to or experiencing commercial sexual exploitation/involved in sex trafficking/or engaging in survival sex. Services are designed to support youth in moving towards safer environments and stabilization, as they define for themselves. Using a harm reduction, client-centered, empowerment, and relationship driven approach, HART provides: case management, crisis response, CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) training and workshops, and psychoeducation to young people. HART is composed of a team of three Intervention Specialists (Case Managers/Advocates), a therapist, Program Manager, and Program Director. We are a close team that learn from and grow with each other. We are committed to the youth we work with and their healing along with educating others around the important issue of CSEC. POSITION SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager, the CSEC Intervention Specialist will work to employ a survivor led CSEC model to help youth and young adults feel empowered to leave or reduce harmful situations, provide linkages to resources, co-facilitate CSEC prevention workshops for youth, and support in preparing and facilitating CSEC trainings to community partners and providers. The CSEC Intervention Specialist will also provide a coordinated response with San Francisco's Human Services Agency (SF HSA) according to the CSEC County Protocol. This includes participating in a rotating, scheduled on-call system to provide crisis response outside of regular business hours when assigned. On-call shifts may include evenings, weekends, or holidays, based on an agreed-upon schedule. The CSEC intervention specialist must be able to work with multidisciplinary teams and maintain strong working relationships with system providers such as: SF HSA, Juvenile probation, and SFUSD as they advocate for our clients and support system navigation. In addition, Intervention Specialists support the day to day office flow by greeting youth and other visitors, supporting navigation of the space, and access to basic needs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide case management in the community, at partner sites, and on site at the office to youth ages 11-24 and their families who are at risk of or are experiencing commercial sexual exploitation or engaging in survival sex. This includes following the client tiers of case management engagement as outlined in the program manual, with adjustments made on a case-by-case basis (typically meeting with clients once a week). Develop and update case plans for each active youth with SMARTIE (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely, Inclusive, and Equitable) goals. Initiate contact with referral sources within 3 days of client assignment and outreach to youth and families/guardians within a week. Provide direct support to youth and their families or support networks, including referrals and warm handoffs to appropriate community resources. Conduct program intakes and assessments within the first three (3) meetings with each assigned client, in accordance with program guidelines. Advocate and support for the youth when interfacing with the child welfare system (child welfare workers, placement staff) and other systems, including medical,juvenile justice, and schools. Participate in CSEC case consultation meetings, such as CFTs Support youth engagement and stabilization by providing practical assistance such as clothing, transportation, safety or housing supports, journals, food and grocery assistance, hygiene supplies, gift cards, and other necessary miscellaneous expenses. Maintain ongoing caseload and electronic files, keeping accurate program data and complying with all program reporting requirements for periodic review. Case notes must be completed weekly. Balance multiple tasks in response to ongoing and emergent youth needs, crisis response, and documentation. Provide 24-hour crisis response when scheduled on-call (typically one week a month), This includes crisis intervention, safety planning, linkage to services and follow up for youth both in and outside of San Francisco County by meeting with victims/families of victims to provide referrals and resources needed. Network with other community-based providers to establish relationships and resources, including providing consultation to other community providers. Co-facilitate CSEC prevention and education groups. Document sign in-forms, exit surveys, and any other relevant workshop documentation into Salesforce within a week of workshops. Engage in co-creating and facilitating presentations including: providing education and training to caregivers and adults who work with CSEC, youth programs, providers and others Presentations require public speaking This may also include other special projects done collaboratively with the team Participate in staff development activities, meetings, and events including: individual supervision, weekly team meetings, all agency meetings and training, clinical training, interdisciplinary meetings and others as directed by the Program Manager. Participate in outreach activities and promote HART services as well as the organization as a whole at schools, other Community Based Organization, community events and others. Outreach activities include: tabling, presenting on our services, recruitment for programming, attending Community events (ex: Aids Walk), participating in Huckleberry Events (ex: Block Party) and other programming as needed. Provide support and integration with other HYP programs and services to provide a seamless experience for youth. Work an assigned work schedule with adjusted schedules as needed to conduct intakes, workshops, presentations, etc. pertaining to delivery of services. Other duties as assigned, including some clerical work (answering the office phone line, opening the main entrance, restocking office supplies/equipment, cleaning & re-organizing office space, etc.).REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Two years' experience working with marginalized youth and families, specifically providing direct services or case management. Experience engaging youth between the ages of 11-24 and working with their parents/ caregivers. Experience working with various cultural and ethnic groups and genders in a tactful and effective manner. Familiarity and commitment to the harm reduction model. Proven ability to balance crisis and an empowerment approach when working with youth. Experience advocating in a collaborative process and negotiating various systems, preferably the foster and juvenile justice systems. Excellent organizational, time-management and communication skills.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Ability to speak, read and write fluently in both English and Spanish. Bilingual stipend provided ($1.75/hour). One year of experience working with youth and/or young adults experiencing commercial sexual exploitation or in the sex trades preferred. Experience utilizing and commitment to the harm reduction model. Experience working with systems, particularly the foster care and juvenile justice system. Familiarity and/or lived experience with public systems. Knowledge of community based agencies serving adolescents in San Francisco strongly preferred.COMPETENCIES: Strong commitment to the well-being of youth, social justice, and a positive youth development approach. Commitment to managing vicarious trauma and collaborating to create a trauma-informed team environment.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This role must be able to sit comfortably in a car when driving for up to an hour at a time.
