EHS Specialist

Job DescriptionOur client, a world leader in biotechnology and life sciences, is looking for a "EHS Specialist" based out of San Diego, CA.Job Duration: Long Term Contract (Possibility Of Extension)Company Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Paid Sick leave, 401KWe are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a strong safety culture. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to manage EHS risks across laboratory, manufacturing, and vivarium environments.The ideal candidate will have strong experience in hazardous materials management, chemical safety, biological waste handling, and regulatory compliance, including San Diego County HAZMAT regulations and the CERS reporting portal.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport implementation and maintenance of EHS programs including Hazard Communication, Waste Management, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, and Emergency Response.Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local HAZMAT regulations.Manage chemical, hazardous, and biological waste programs, including labeling, storage, and disposal.Maintain EHS documentation, permits, and regulatory reporting including CERS submissions.Conduct EHS inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions when needed.Support emergency response planning, spill response, and safety training initiatives.Track and report EHS metrics and support continuous improvement of safety programs.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years of EHS experience, preferably in biotech, life sciences, or manufacturing environments.Strong knowledge of hazardous materials, chemical safety, and biological waste management.Experience with San Diego County HAZMAT regulations and CERS reporting preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and strong communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 EHS management systemsHAZWOPER certificationFirst Aid / CPR / AED certificationExperience with EHS compliance systems or databases.If interested, please send us your updated resume athr@/kavitha@Skill SetHAZMAT, Chemical Waste Management, Biological Waste Management
