Job Title: Lab Manufacturing Technician - Reagent Formulation Job Description This role supports the reagent formulation team by manufacturing and performing quality control on reagent consumables, managing daily usage and inventory, and supplying research and development with reagents and buffers. The Manufacturing Technician II calibrates, validates, and troubleshoots formulation equipment and instruments, executes and improves batch records and standard operating procedures, and contributes to process improvements in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary life science environment. Responsibilities * Perform assigned manufacturing tasks for reagents and buffers according to batch records and standard operating procedures. * Formulate simple buffers up to 50L, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with quality standards. * Conduct quality control procedures for consumables, including data collection, analysis, and documentation. * Perform troubleshooting on formulations, filling processes, packaging, analytical techniques, and reagent formulation equipment and instruments. * Execute work order processing to complete products and move finished goods into inventory. * Execute, review, and help improve batch records (BRs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions (WIs). * Identify gaps and weaknesses in SOPs, formulations, and processes for finished goods and component materials, and propose improvements. * Maintain accurate inventory of materials through regular cycle counts, ordering, and receipt of materials. * Provide fill support and kit support, including the ability to lead a production line as needed. * Support R&D and process improvement activities by supplying daily reagent and buffer needs and collaborating on optimization efforts. * Calibrate, validate, and maintain reagent formulation equipment and instruments to ensure reliable operation. * Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities while meeting production goals and deadlines. * Collaborate closely with scientists, engineers, and manufacturing personnel as part of a multi-disciplinary team. * Document all activities accurately using tools such as Excel, Word, Confluence, and web-based systems. * Perform other related duties as assigned to support manufacturing and quality objectives. Essential Skills * Biochemistry or chemistry with hands-on laboratory experience. * Experience working with SOPs, batch records (BRs), and work instructions (WIs). * Hands-on experience with pH meters, conductivity meters, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, and other standard laboratory equipment. * General laboratory skills, including reagent preparation, solution formulation, and safe handling of chemicals. * Ability to perform basic troubleshooting in formulations, filling, packaging, and analytical techniques. * Strong attention to detail with solid analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. * Proficiency with Excel, Word, Confluence, and similar web-based or documentation programs. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organization and flexibility. * Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Bachelor of Science degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, or a related life science discipline preferred. * 0-2 years of relevant experience in consumable manufacturing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Experience with formulation, filling, packaging, and chromatography in a laboratory or manufacturing setting is preferred. * Experience with developing and updating bills of materials (BOMs) is preferred. * Troubleshooting experience with formulation processes and equipment is preferred. * Experience in a life science or biotechnology company environment is beneficial. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
