Maritime Training Coordinator and Content Developer American Cruise Lines is seeking a highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented individual to support the development and coordination of training programs for our Maritime Training Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role will focus on coordinating the maritime training experience and creating training and assessment content. Our ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, technical writing abilities, and a strong aptitude for translating operational procedures, knowledge, and risk points into effective training and assessment content. Experience with e-learning development and simulation training tools is strongly preferred. This candidate should demonstrate previous operations experience implementing procedures and identifying risk points. Prior instructional design experience, teaching, training, or educational program development experience is preferred. The ideal individual will be capable of working independently while collaborating with subject matter experts and leadership to ensure the training and assessment content and experience aligns with company standards and goals. Responsibilities: * Coordinate maritime training and assessment schedules, administration, and documentation. * Develop and maintain training and assessment content including materials, including presentations, e-learning modules, and instructional aids. * Translate standard operational procedures and technical information into clear, structured training and assessment content suitable for multiple learning formats. * Design and develop digital training courses using e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate. * Collaborate with subject matter experts across departments to gather information and ensure effectiveness of the maritime training and assessment experience. * Develop, implement, and maintain a structured system for tracking company mariner professional development, including monitoring routine shipboard evaluation reports and recording the completion of company-standard competencies and assessments. * Maintain, update, and track revisions to training documentation to reflect changes in company procedures, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices. * Support the development of curriculum frameworks and structured learning pathways for shipboard personnel. * Develop metrics and feedback systems to measure training effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. * Assist instructors and trainers with preparation of classroom materials, presentations, and learning resources. * Ensure training materials maintain a consistent voice, format, and quality standard across programs. * Cultivate a culture of continuous learning by supporting initiatives that encourage professional development and knowledge sharing. * This position reports directly to the Marine Training & Development Sr Manager. Qualifications: * Detail oriented, with the ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams. * Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with subject matter experts and leadership. * Advanced technical writing and editing skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts. * Experience developing training content, instructional materials, or technical documentation. * Preferred experience using Articulate, SmarterU, or similar e-learning development platforms. * Prior teaching, instructional design, curriculum development, or professional training experience strongly preferred. * Strong research skills and ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into structured learning materials. * Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate documentation. * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook) for the development of training materials, documentation, and data tracking. Work Environment: * Daily in-person training, assessment, and development work at our Maritime Training Center in Salt Lake City, UT. * Professional fast-paced environment with a regular time schedule. * Occasional collaboration with shipboard personnel and operations team members to gather training requirements and feedback. Work Schedule: * Monday - Friday (8am - 5pm) routine schedule at the Training Center. * Occasional extended hours during peak training periods, particularly during the start of the cruising season (typically February to April). * Periodic travel to various locations around the U.S. on board our fleet of vessels and attending maritime training and assessment forums.
