A fringe benefit package is offered, which includes health, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurances.GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:Reporting to the Deputy Superintendent, the Director of Facilities provides leadership, oversight, and strategic management of district-wide facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, compliant, and sustainable operation of all district facilities, infrastructure, custodial, maintenance, safety, and logistical services.The Director of Facilities serves as a key advisor to district leadership, translating organizational priorities into coordinated operational strategy and execution. This position leads long-range facilities and capital planning, operational budgeting, safety and regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement efforts to ensure district operations equitably support instructional programming and organizational effectiveness across the Birth-26 continuum.This role advances the district's mission by fostering a culture of operational excellence, stewardship, safety, and service to students, staff, families, and community partners.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategic Operations LeadershipLead the development and implementation of district-wide operational strategies that ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable operations aligned to district priorities.Provide guidance and recommendations to the Deputy Superintendent and Superintendent related to facilities, safety, and infrastructure systems.Facilities, Capital Planning & InfrastructureProvide departmental oversight of all district buildings, grounds, and infrastructure to ensure facilities are safe, functional, accessible, and program-ready.Lead multi-year capital improvement planning, facility modernization efforts, and construction and renovation projects from planning through completion.Oversee facility condition assessments, long-range maintenance planning, and lifecycle replacement strategies.Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, ADA requirements, environmental regulations, fire and life-safety standards, AHERA requirements, licensing inspections, HVAC inspections, and related mandates.Safety, Security & Risk ManagementProvide leadership for district-wide safety, security, and emergency preparedness planning in collaboration with district leadership and local public safety partners.Oversee physical security systems in collaboration with the technology department, including access control, surveillance, alarms, and emergency communication systems.Serve as the primary childcare licensing facility designee for Saginaw ISD to ensure compliance and safety.Ensure compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, environmental health, and occupational safety requirements.Partner with district leadership to support risk management, insurance coordination, and mitigation strategies.Operational Services OversightProvide executive oversight of custodial, maintenance, grounds, and logistics operations.Establish district-wide service standards, quality control measures, and performance expectations to ensure consistent, high-quality operations across all sites.Ensure operational systems effectively support instructional programming, special events, and community use of facilities.Oversee preventive maintenance programs designed to extend the life of facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.Budgeting, Procurement & Fiscal StewardshipLead the development and management of operational budgets in alignment with district priorities and fiscal parameters.Oversee purchasing practices, contract development, bid specifications, and vendor management to ensure compliance, transparency, and cost effectiveness.Analyze operational expenditures and recommend efficiencies, reinvestments, and sustainability strategies.Leadership, Personnel & CultureSupervise and evaluate operations and facilities leadership staff, fostering a positive, service-oriented culture grounded in equity, accountability, and continuous improvement.Lead staffing, training, and succession planning efforts within operational departments.Promote collaboration, communication, and customer service across internal teams and external partners.Countywide & External CollaborationServe as a district and regional resource for operational and facilities best practices when appropriate.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, contractors, architects, engineers, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.Prepare board reports, operational analyses, and special studies as requested by district leadership.Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent and/or Superintendent.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred in facilities management, engineering, construction management, business administration, public administration, or a related field.Minimum of five (5) years of senior-level leadership experience in operations, facilities, or infrastructure management within education, government, or complex organizations.MSBO Facilities Director (CFD) and/or Operations Director (COD) certification preferred or willingness to obtain in the first two years.Demonstrated expertise in capital planning, construction management, safety compliance, and operational budgeting.Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex systems.Strong communication skills with the ability to present operational data and recommendations clearly to boards, executives, and community stakeholders.Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and commitment to public service.NOTICE OF NONDISCRIMINATIONSaginaw Intermediate School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender and gender identity, disability, age, or national origin in its programs and activities and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
