Responsibilities include instruction of students, student discipline, planning, preparation of materials, testing and record keeping. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Adapt lessons to support and/or reinforce classroom objectivesAdminister tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. to support teachers in the instructional processAssist students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments to practice and/or reinforce learning concepts and assist students in reaching their academic goals and grade level standardsConfer with teachers and/or parents by providing input into the evaluation of students' progress and/or implementing/modifying students' objectivesImplement, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans to assist the teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of studyMaintain classroom equipment, work area, students' files/records to identify required assistance and ensure a safe and positive learning environmentPerform record keeping and clerical functions to support the teacher and/or to provide necessary records/materialsRespond to emergency situations and immediately resolve safety concerns and/or direct concerns to appropriate personnel for resolutionAttend meetings and in-service presentations to acquire information relative to these job functionsPerform other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Education or relevant field preferredAssociate's Degree in Child Development or relevant field requiredPrevious classroom experience preferredKnowledge of Math/Science and Reading subject areas SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Individual(s) will be expected to pass both a Math and Reading Test so as to be able to support students in grades K-8 WORKING CONDITIONS:School environment where there may be physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, and dust.
