Position Type: Administration/Director - TransportationDate Posted: 4/1/2026Location: Ruby OperationsClosing Date: Until FilledJob Title: Director of TransportationReports To: Executive Director of Administration & Student ServicesTerms of Employment: 240 daysGoal: Transport all students to and from school safely, enabling each student, through safe and efficient transportation, including the complete range of curricular and extra-curricular activities offered by the district's schools.Responsibilities:Conforms with all state laws and regulations regarding school transportation.Maintains safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations and develops a program of preventive safety.Recruits, trains and supervises all transportation personnel and makes recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion and release.Acts as liaison with contractor for consultation on road hazards for decision on closing during inclement weather.Cooperates with school principals and others responsible for planning special school trips.Develops and administers a transportation program to meet all the requirements of the daily instructional program and extra-curricular activities.Develops and administers a contractual transportation program to meet all the requirements of the daily instructional program and extra-curricular.Prepares bus routes for all public schools in the district.Attends appropriate committee and staff meetings.Prepares transportation payroll monthly.Submits all reports required by state authorities.Takes an active role in solving discipline problems occurring on school buses.Acts as liaison with parents for complaints and special requests.Performs such other duties as are assigned by the District Superintendent.To work with an inclement weather team to determine safe travel discussions impacting school closure.Evaluation:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
