Working knowledge of manufacturing processes. Confer with other BU Supervisors to coordinate operations and activities. Plan and establish work schedules. Determine daily schedule and corresponding manpower requirements to meet targets for both shipping operations and internal material handling support. Trouble-shoot equipment to maximize up time. Ensure processes are standardized and adhered to in a manner that achieves a high level of quality. Manage schedules and resources to seasonal volume needs in order to meet customer demand. Observe, train and coach employees in daily work activities, ensuring that workers conform to safety procedures while maintaining required performance levels and using the proper documented operating procedures. Establish and maintain lean metrics and communicate the results to management. Plan, lead and execute Kaizen & 3P events throughout the business unit. Initiate Human Resource actions to select, train, discipline, and terminate shop floor associates. Support lean culture, drive continuous improvement, and lead projects at home and across locations. Responsible for powered industrial trucks, cranes, and other major equipment, including lease management and employee training. Responsible for coordinating with Inside Sales, Production, and Logistics departments, as well as maintaining relationships with contracted carriers. LEAN KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Involvement and support for the DD Organization Lean transition through Kaizen, 3P, Daily Continuous Improvement Activity and 5S. Establish and maintain current state standard of work and identify and prioritize continuous improvement future state opportunities using Cycle Time Observations, Loading Diagrams, Cell Capacities. Implementation and sustainment of SQDC programs. Maintain "Management for Daily Improvement" SQDC Tracking Boards to identify and prioritize continuous improvement activities. Execution of SQDC continuous improvement opportunities. Execution of timely and informative Shop Floor Associate performance reviews to establish improvement plans as related to SQDC and adherence to DD organization policies. Complete other reasonably related duties as assigned. WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS:Education/Experience: Must have leadership experience in a shipping, logistics, or warehouse environment, or comparable professional training/education. Bachelor's degree a plus. Technology/Equipment: Computer skills necessary. Will be required to use basic Microsoft Office software on a constant basis and learn ERP/MRP software to manage inventory control, order processing and verification, billing, and other critical functions in the shipping process. Will be expected to learn and be qualified to operate fork trucks and Work Assist Vehicles. Additional Skills: Experience in a manufacturing environment with a lean operating system a plus. Familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley and other requirements and regulations for the shipping process. Proven experience managing employees and working in a team environment. Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to form connections and build relationships across departments.
