Distribution Designer

An employer is seeking a Distribution Designers to join an Engineering Consulting firm in the Rock Hill, SC area. This position will provide engineering oversight and underground utility design support for residential and commercial development projects on behalf of the City of Rock Hill. They will be responsible for designing and redesigning power distribution layouts for a large Energy Supplier in the Carolinas under the direct supervision of the engineering manager, and will be working directly with the City of Rock Hill. They will be tasked with designing layouts and redesigning grids for the client as needed. The ideal candidate will have a background in power or utilities distribution with a strong will to learn and grow with a company. Responsibilities include:Development Engineering OversightServe as the engineering point of contact for underground utility aspects of private development projectsReview developer submittals for compliance with City standards and utility requirementsCoordinate with City staff, developers, and other consultants during project executionUnderground Utility DesignPerform underground electric distribution design for residential and commercial developmentsDevelop layouts including conduit systems, transformer placement, switchgear, and service pointsIncorporate City Construction Units (CUs) and standards into designsPermitting & DocumentationPrepare and support underground utility permit packages as requiredDevelop construction-ready drawings suitable for City review and contractor useRespond to City comments and revise designs accordinglyGIS / ESRI ArcMap IntegrationUtilize ESRI ArcMap for design development and plan preparationEnsure accuracy of GIS-based designs and alignment with City mapping requirementsCoordinate data consistency between design drawings and City GIS recordsCoordination & ConstructabilityCollaborate with developers, surveyors, and contractors to address constructability issuesSupport resolution of field conflicts and underground constraintsAssist with design clarifications during construction as neededClient & Stakeholder InteractionRepresent KCI professionally in meetings with City staff and external stakeholdersCommunicate clearly on technical issues, schedules, and design intentSupport long-term relationship building between KCI and the City of Rock Hill
