**Job Posting End Date** 05-05-2026 Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end date. **Job Summary** The Vice President, Transmission Real Time Operations provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and enterprise accountability for all real-time transmission operations, system reliability, outage planning, and real-time response functions across the AEP system. This role ensures the safe, reliable, compliant, and resilient operation of AEP's transmission network under normal and emergency operating conditions, while advancing operational excellence and Grid of the Future capabilities. This position has direct leadership responsibility for the Managing Directors of Real Time Reliability, Real Time Response, and Transmission System Operations Outage Planning and serves as a key member of the Energy Delivery leadership team. The role acts as a primary interface with regional transmission organizations (RTOs), independent system operators (ISOs), reliability organizations, regulators, and senior internal stakeholders. **Job Description** **Essential Job Functions:** + Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for real-time transmission reliability, outage planning, and system response functions to ensure consistent execution across all operating companies and RTO footprints. + Lead, mentor, and develop senior operational leaders, fostering a strong safety culture, accountability, and performance excellence. + Ensure continuous, secure, and reliable operation of the transmission system in compliance with NERC, FERC, RTO, and state reliability standards. + Oversee the development, implementation, and governance of normal and emergency operating procedures, including system restoration and emergency response plans. + Provide strategic oversight of transmission outage planning and coordination to minimize system and customer risk while supporting construction and maintenance activities. + Ensure effective real-time response to planned and unplanned events, including system disturbances, severe weather, and emergency conditions. + Set strategic direction for real-time operational technologies including EMS, SCADA, diagnostic tools, and advanced system monitoring capabilities. + Serve as a senior AEP representative with RTOs, ISOs, reliability organizations, regulators, and industry forums, representing AEP's operational interests. + Drive a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making across all transmission real-time operations. + Manage expenses to established budget and effectively create a business plan to include multi-year budget forecast. **Required Qualifications:** Education + Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or information systems or related technical discipline from an accredited institution; in lieu of the degree 15 year of experience in transmission operations or systems is acceptable. Experience: + Minimum of additional (degree or degree equivalent) 10 years' experience in transmission operations, system reliability, engineering, or related operational leadership roles. **Preferred Qualifications** + Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or NERC System Operator Certification. + Master's degree in engineering, business, or a related field. + Experience operating within multiple RTO/ISO environments (e.g., PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT). + Demonstrated expertise in real-time transmission operations, outage planning, emergency response, and regulatory compliance. + Proven track record leading large-scale operational transformation and continuous improvement initiatives. + Leadership competencies + Enterprise and systems thinking. + Crisis leadership and executive decision-making. + Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple stakeholder groups. + Operational excellence and continuous improvement mindset. + Talent development and succession planning. **Where You'll Work:** + On-Site in the AEP Transmission is New Albany, OH **What You'll Get:** + Base salary + Annual bonus + Long-term incentive + 401K match + AEP Pension + Comprehensive benefits package that aims to support and enhance the overall well-being of our employees.
