Each interaction with workshop participants, faculty and fellow staff members, creates the Omega experience. Job Description AV Crew: non-exempt, full-time; on average 35 hours per week. Reports to AV Manager. Summary The Audio Visual (AV) department serves the Omega campus in three capacities: Audio Visual Production of workshops and concerts, Audio Recording for Archive and online content, and Video/Web production. Each of these teams works both independently and in collaboration with each other and the rest of the Omega community. AV facilitates all audio-visual equipment needs for catalog workshops, campus entertainment, staff programming and staff functions. AV works as a division of the Event Services department and works closely with People and Culture, and Operations. The AV department audio records about 30% of the catalog workshops, making the content available online and to the faculty as needed. The Video/Web team works closely with the Marketing and Programming departments, videotaping and live-streaming selected programs. They also conduct faculty video interviews and create B-roll for promotional purposes. Behind the scenes, the Video/Web team spends significant time reviewing, editing and transforming material into web content. AV staff work directly with visiting faculty, and play a vital role in classroom operations. As staff members with high visibility on campus, staff are expected to maintain a professional appearance, approachable demeanor, and be able to adapt effectively to challenging situations. AV staff should be strong communicators and confident speaking in public. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Setup, remove, operate, and maintain all audio-visual equipment in the catalog and staff workshop spaces. Clean equipment and maintain inventory of equipment & supplies. Work with the AV Manager and Supervisor to coordinate and facilitate classroom changeovers and upcoming events. Transport department-related packages. Assist the Recording Supervisor with recording operations, duplication, preparations, administration, and the delivery of audio sales. Communicate via phone and email with the AV management team and other Omega departments. Possess a valid driver's license, and operate motor vehicles as necessary. Other duties as required by the supervisor. Work Details This position functions on the Omega campus. This is a full-time position, 35 hours a week. The recording shift hours are reflective of the workshop demands and will start 30 minutes earlier and end 30 minutes later than the schedule defined by the faculty. Physical Requirements Ability to occasionally move items that weigh 50-100 pounds for various needs. Ability to work atop a 20 ft. ladder. Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Ability to traverse a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions. Ability to position self to perform diverse job tasks as necessary. Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Ability to work in a constant sate of alertness and safe manner. Ability to observe details at close range. Required Experience/Qualities Basic knowledge of live audio setup and recording, and stage lighting. Working experience or the willingness and capability to learn multi-channel mixing consoles; musical, vocal, and wireless microphones; slide, overhead, and LCD projectors; TVs and VCRs; live stage setup with house system and stage monitors; basic stage lighting. Comfortable and confident when engaging an audience or being on stage with faculty. Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop, Web Design, Pro-Tools, Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro Studio, Flash) Timely, reliable, and service oriented individual. Excellent interpersonal skills. Team Player. Able to receive direction and self-motivate. Valid Driver's License. Alignment with Omega's Mission, Goals and Core Values. Seasonal staff receive a compensation package that includes: Wage Indoor housing Three delicious meals per day in our mostly vegetarian Dining Hall Access to Omega's staff benefits This compensation package is at minimum equivalent to the New York State minimum wage.
